Eberle pitching well in this one. Pitches a shutout for the first 5 innings.

Cards’ offense explodes for 9 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Alicea hits a home run and later a triple, and Lucas Moore also hit a home run. 13-2 lead now in the top of the 6th.

Sophomore Kian Vorster pitched the 7th. Gave up one walk but really has a nice sinker pitch. No runs allowed, and the Cards take game 1 16-2, with the mercy rule applied.

Game 2. Wyatt Danilowicz on the bump. The Chips with a lead off homer to start the game. They lead 1-0 in the 2nd.

In the bottom of the first, Alicea with a bunt single advanced all the way to 3rd on a throwing error by the catcher. Then he screws us out of a potential big inning by ignoring the 3rd base coach’s sign to stop at third. He gets thrown out at home, and Tague Davis’ double two batters later drives in … nobody. Little league baseball by Alicea.

Cards get another runner to 3rd on a throwing error and a wild pitch, but the CMU pitcher is throwing some bendy stuff, and he strikes out the side. Still 1-0 CMU.

Nice 2 out hitting by the Cards. Nugent with the walk, Hisle hit by pitch, and then Byram Hot with the bases loaded double. Cards now lead 4-1 after 3 innings

9 walks allowed by the Cards pitching today. Pee-eww. CMU has scored the last 6 to take the 7-4 lead into the bottom of the 7th.

What a comeback by the Cards! Trailing 8-5 in the bottom of the 9th, and the CMU pitcher couldn’t find the strike zone. Throws 11 straight balls, is replaced. Next pitcher finally throws a strike but then walks Lucas Moore on his second pitch to load the bases. Tague Davis delivers a 2 run single, then steals 2nd. JImmy Nugent strikes out (crappy third strike call, in my opinion). With one out, Jax Hisle single scores Lucas Moore to tie the game, and Davis is thrown out at home trying to score the winning run. Now two outs, Byrum Hot delivers with a single to move Hisle over to third, and hot hitting Griffin Crain walks it off with a single over the head of the CMU first baseman. Unreal!

Game 3 … transfer Jake Bean is feeling better today and will get the start for the Cards. Yesterday’s amazing comeback gives us a chance to pull off the series sweep.

Cards have punched across 2 runs to tie it through 3 innings. Bayrum Hot with a solo homer. Bean has settled down a little, and the game is tied at 2.

Very intellectually challenged Baseball base management by the Cards in inning one.
Agreed …. CMU has been error prone, so I’m sure our coaches are telling our baserunners to be aggressive, but sometimes you’ve just got to be smarter than we have so far.

Cards have scratched out a 7-5 lead going into the 9th. Aaron England is trying to close it out for his 3rd save on the season.
