Odds of the Steelers opting to draft the "home town QB" Pickett to take over the duties from Big Ben? If Mike Tomlin has a say, it could happen.
Do you think Picket is worthy of a first round pick? Not sold on Steelers taking him with their first pick....But what do I know!!Odds of the Steelers opting to draft the "home town QB" Pickett to take over the duties from Big Ben? If Mike Tomlin has a say, it could happen.
A smart NFL team owner would normally try to get a talented QB lower than high first round just because of money invested in the player. But the Steelers track record of QB's after losing a franchise QB is horrible to say the least. Look who followed Bradshaw and how many years it took to finally get a decent QB. Can't imagine who will follow Ben when he is forced to hang it up.Do you think Picket is worthy of a first round pick? Not sold on Steelers taking him with their first pick....But what do I know!!
When you play no one of importance, you can look great.Pitts offense looked pretty good in the first half. But UNC really came out in the 2nd half and stopped them. I thought the UNC QB was one tough SOB and I mean that in a good way.
Pickett is interesting. I cant tell if he's that good or has just been in that system for 6 years. I think I'm going with been in the system for 6 years. He does seem to be pretty accurte but makes some dumb throws that would have resulted in INT's with better teams. Heck the Safety should have had a game ending INT for UNC. But I don't think he's a first day draft choice. I recognized some of the players when we played them several years ago.
Also I see Petrishen (sp?) was starting for them but didn't see him do anything special.

Didn't their QB get injured?UVA game next week with Pitt should be a good one. UVA really struggles on defense, but they also have a great QB and Bronco is one of the best offensive minds in the business.
When last faced with replacing a true franchise HOF QB (Bradshaw), the Steelers passed on a QB from Pitt. Good thing that Marino kid never panned out, or it would’ve looked really bad for the organization to pass on the hometown kid. Plus, they had Mark Malone waiting in the wings, so…….A smart NFL team owner would normally try to get a talented QB lower than high first round just because of money invested in the player. It's the lines. Not there yet in the Mack is Back tenure.UNC is terrible. Mack Brown should have stayed retired.
their secondary was pretty bad as well. They must have had at least 3 Pass Int./holding calls when I was watching. It's the lines. Not there yet in the Mack is Back tenure.
No real rush by D line has been an issue. The most inconsistent team I've ever seen -- they will flash amazing talent on one play and then give up a 3rd and 11 easily. On O, the Heels will score in 2 plays or go 4 series straight with 4 sacks on 3rd down. It's bizarre football. I've come to the conclusion that the lines are so bad that everyone else is trying to do too much.their secondary was pretty bad as well.
