True enough. I just know a couple of local Duck fans who I guess expected even better from the guy. As UK fans I think we get player's having good years yet falling short of some fan's expectations.
It was going to be impossible to replace Mariota. If you just look at the Duck season, then yes, you might think it was a failure. Then you look close and realize he broke his finger in the first game of the season on his throwing hand. His first game back with a healed finger was against Washington. The Ducks went 6-0 to end the regular season starting with that game and he threw for 23 TD's and 4 INT's in those 6 games. He was VERY good when he was healthy and they were a potential playoff team with a healthy VAJ. As a comparison, his backup Lockie played in 3 full games and more than 1/2 of 2 other games and finished with 5 TD's and 4 INT's in 4 full games.
I'm not opposed to the 1 year guy to fill a temporary hole, but you can't depend on it or you will lose the battle.
