It was a hard act to follow after going undefeated for 9 years in a row. It's evident they're not getting the same kids. Back than, the kids were not interested in attending Vance/Chambers. When Aaron Brand showed up, it was the beginning of what's going on now.
Agree. Just wondering if some boundary issue or demographic switch happened? 🤔 even with different coaching the athletes shouldn't be that small/unathletic IMHO. Brand is DEFINITELY the catalyst for todays success. Just surprised thats all. Guess Chambers will get an influx of 9th graders from different MS.

I agree the first game for SFA is usually a throw away game to gauging them because from my understanding their full roster doesn’t get settled until just a week or two before their classes start. It usually takes them a couple of weeks into the season to really get going. SFA do not have the financial resources that most of the other big privates in the DMV have on hand so they start out a little slower in some areas. Btango you touched on my thoughts about matchups. I think that Coach Knotts can coach with anyone but the Jimmy and Joes of St Francis will be pretty hard for this particular DF team to matchup with across the board. DF will need to score, play field position, and milk the clock. DF does have 5 games under their belt so Coach Knotts has probably established what they are as a team. SFA is a chip on their shoulder type of team so is important not to give those kids bulletin board info. I am just thinking that this game will be a game of attrition that favors SFA because of their depth of talent across the board.

I dont know, I think they do now. At least they started out with huge donations.
Not all their best players are from Baltimore area or even Maryland.

The school bought houses in the area around the school to house football players. Have had players come from out of state and were doing some bird dogging in Florida.

The previous coach who started the program and left to go coach at Michigan last summer is a millionaire who self funded many aspects of their program including travel and coaching salaries. I know that the program/school is receiving funding from donors now but in comparison to some of the other private school powerhouses in the area it has a relatively low income student body. Also you have to keep in mind that SFA is in a region where it can hand select an all star team every year before it has to look out of the region for talent. The southern Maryland, DC, Northern Virginia region can support multiple super teams based off of population alone.

They had Florida and South Carolina(I think) kids on the team as well.

They may have some of those kids sprinkled in but the vast majority are normally DMV kids for the most part. As their program gets more national recognition than I expect that the program will attract more kids from far away places. Keep in mind that you still have private schools like Gonzaga, St. John, Good Counsel, Dematha, and a few others in the DMV that SFA has to compete with for players locally and who have all proven that they can go outside the region and compete with almost anybody.

yeah most of the players were from Maryland, and they stole a few 4 and 5 stars from out of state

SFA is basically a high school version of a private HBCU. They did a good job for a few years getting talented players from Baltimore area which is densely populated. Providing housing helped with more of those players plus some out of staters.

This is exactly what I was referencing when I mentioned the across the board talent being maybe too much for DF to overcome. When you have multiple D1 talents in your front seven on defense, that’s a pretty high hurdle to deal with for a high school team.

What’s score? I’m watching it from the app but Chambers doesn’t have the score up so it must not be good.

Is Hough's defense that good? I know Concepcion has been limited last couple weeks. Thought it might be low scoring, but didn't expect two TDs combined from those offenses.

From what I’ve seen more than once, Chambers is just not that great. Even in their wins this year you can see the flaws in the offense. I would say it’s a combination of both.

Kinda figured they weren’t that great when they got smacked by Cardinal Gibbons in the title game..the same team who got blasted two years in a row by triad teams

Ehh... You're going back a few years there. They beat Gibbons earlier this year. Last year, they didn't lose to anyone from the triad.

I’m saying, no way a “juggernaut” like chambers fans acted like they were the last few years, loses to Cardinal Gibbons (which they did in the title game). East F and Grimsley both killed them in the title games the years before and Chambers should have done the same. Not saying they aren’t good, because they are, but not some juggernaut like some Charlotte guys want you to believe

Chambers offense (imo) is more about talent than scheme. Getting their athletes in space to make a plays rather than scheming their players to get open. It works against lower opposition but when playing a team with similar talent it could be a problem. I think Mallard Creek has the best defense in that conference so that game will be close as well.

East beat CG by a FG. This is the year for East and Grimsley can prove their strength by winning a state title in a non subdivided 4A.

These are the games that Chambers misses Hollywood. The further they get away from Brand/Ferebee the worse they will become. Right now they are athlete rich and it covers flaws. This Chambers SR. Class may be the most decorated in school/CMS history besides some of those Indy teams. Think MC beats them too

Man you hit it on the money!! I have seen the flaws all year but didn’t speak on it. I’ve seen people say last nights L to hough will play out just like last year when they meet again. Truthfully I think it’s the end of their run though and they won’t even meet them in the west finals again.
