I'm no coach but, I always felt like Brent was hampered by Bob's defensive philosophy (whatever that is).
Since he has been at Clemson, Clemson has had one of the elite (Top 10, Top 20) defenses in college football.
I don't know enough about Clemson to know if BV created that or inherited it.
But, I do know that they had and still have a much better defense than OU has.
My uneducated guess is, BV would be successful with Riley, since Riley would not have the same preconceived notions that Bob had on defense. I can't help but feel that BV was a very good coordinator when he was at OU, but he was not truly 100% in charge of the defense.

Latest, and he's turned out OK. Trey Norwood showed up 5'9 147lbs. Then, Beal, to small for LB and to slow for safety.
Tre Norwood was listed as 5'11 in high school and on OU's current roster. Is this inaccurate ?
And Emmanuel Beal was a two star LB at Lakawana JC.

I may be wrong but I believe he is getting better recruits at Clemson. Same wiyh Bama and their defense, they get the studs they need every year.

Manny bombed at Texass but has kind of redeem himself at Miami. He's a good recruiter but I don't want him at OU.

I think Ruffin gets promoted to DC and then new LB and DB position coaches come in.
Ruffin wouldn’t really be doing anything besides changing names

I don't understand why BV would come back here or why anyone thinks he'd even consider coming back here. BV will only leave to become a HC at a descent school (at the least), maybe even a big time school since he's now known for turning a horrid Clemson D around.

Agree.
If I were Kansas State I would be targeting him....but Snyder's son is said to be the next HC there.

Snyder's son would have to be nearing retirement age by now one would think...
I dislike posting a comment like this, without a link, but my understanding is that there is paper for Sean Snyder becoming the Heir Apparent...The 'Coach in Waiting', and it is causing some internal problems, NOW. It is one of those 'Looked like a Good Idea, at the time', Scenarios, and was a provision in 'Dad's' re-hiring.

Contract Negotiations, anyone?
