In this age of the transfer: we are not exactly in the worst shape with 9 at this point and already one on board for 2020. A lot lf teams are short players at this point; maybe not quite as bad as Nevada: whose entire team is in the transfer portal, but close.
I will boldly predict that we will be up to at least 11 scholarship players by the beginning of the season once the transfer market has sorted itself out...

Great. And how many B1G worthy? Or would at least get non garbage time minutes on any other B1G team?

I have believed that 8 is the ideal rotation. But injuries happen: big ones, nagging ones. College kids get the flu, mono. So, without even touching the quality of player, I can see nights of only six or seven B1G quality players available.

Man, hope no one fouls out of that game.

Boy I hope so. A few returners from last year would not have broken into rotations around the league. A few more have zero collegiate experience and, I for one, have no idea how ready they are to compete in B1G play. I’m glad you have this inside scoop. We can probably rest w nine and focus on 2020.

Three starters from last year are back...Gaines, AJ and Kopp. All positive contributors. It's my guess that Buie starts.

Nance, Young and Jones will all get time....who starts may be situational...it's a guess that if Nance takes a leap, he fits in the 4 spot and the 5 is Young and Jones.

That creates a crowd at the wing...AJ, Kopp, Beran and Gaines.

Could be a very nice team by mid January, after they get their sea legs.

Unfortunately not a double-figure scorer or 40 percent shooter in the bunch. Gonna be another l-o-n-g year, especially offensively.

the only NU players who shot above 40%....and we're talking all FG attempts, were Pardon and Benson....everyone else was under

more than a thousand FG attempts graduated with Law, Pardon and Taylor...distribute those across Kopp, Turner, Nance and Gaines and you'll have a couple double digit scorers

my focus is on defense because it's such a young team....if this team commits to intense man-to-man, it will have opportunities to win

the offense can be worse than this past season, but the bottom is in sight

I'm not going to revel in the fact that a young man may have used athletics to gain admittance to NU, and graduating from NU might have changed the direction of his life.

Frankly, it's a concept I'd like to see both Admissions and CPS players get on board with.

There have been too many DePaul players who post college did nothing career-wise. I can't think of that many NU grads who aren't doing well.

Way too many kids who are HS "stars" feed off the attention and think they are going to be in the NBA when cold reality is very few make it. Setting up your future life based on a long shot chance with no solid backup plan isn't a winning proposition. Especially in this day and age when if you end up having the talent the scouts will find you no matter the college- great kudos to the kids who make the choice to play a sport but also attend a school where they get a great education to fall back on if needed.

Bingo. CCC needs a young lead guard in the 2020 class to match up with some surprisingly strong young pups that will be on the roster in 2020 and beyond. If I had the choice, I would even pass on Javon and take instead a quality LG freshman in 2020. Nance, Kopp, Jones, Beran and Bamisile are well recognized recruits. A nice opportunity for a top 2020 LG to come in and have an instant impact.

Then we shoot for the stars in 2021.

GOUNUII

I would be happy to have one of the A list lead guards in 2020 as well. It’s just not fun to bank on that after the experience of the past several years.

At least it sounds like Neal is a real possibility.

Don't see anything but a tough season for 19-20 unless they pull in some nice transfers that fill several holes. The Big 10 is just too tough. Think this will be a learning season, but if the recruiting stays steady I think the year after next could be solid- huge chunk of the team will be experienced juniors and sophs.

When Robby Hummel was a frosh they had an undergrad dominated team. It was a difficult start but they pulled it together and were good.

I have zero expectations for next year. I do not think the Big Ten will be quite as insanely good. NU has some decent, high level talent....if it develops, who the hell knows.

I can see them stealing a game or two BC style as underdogs. But absent some significant roster change, this is another bottom feeder team.

I disagree, Ignore. I think if we get a couple of stud transfers, we will have much more talent than last year's team. I predict .500 or better in the BIG- maybe a borderline bubble team when all is said and done.

stud transfers are not likely. i would think it would be solid contributors that can play while most developmental minutes go to the young core.

And who are these stud transfers? We have missed on two targets already. Heck if we bring in the the Fab Five 2.0 in 2020, bubble for National Champions. All we need are those stud five.

The horse is dead. Stop beating it.

Next season is going to be grim. Nine scholarship players right now, three of whom are first years.......yuck.

“Michael Thompson I’s not walking through that door. Bernard Cote’s not walking through that door. Timmy Doyle’s Jeremiah Kreisberg’s not walking through that door. Joey Van Zegerren (sp?)’s not walking through that door. AJ Turner is already here.”

(Not a lot of stud transfers, historically.)

Sorry if I am a bit misguided. But in life, as in rooting for my favorite teams, I prefer to take as many optimistic routes as possible. I think our bball teams will surprise a lot of the naysayers the next several years insofar as winning goes. If we get some productive role players in transfers- along with our core, we are going to be a lot better than many on these boards think we will. I do not adhere to and refuse to give in to all the negativity. Call me crazy like all my doctors do, but I think CCC will win BIG coach of the year sometime soon- and we will make the tourney even sooner.

Odd that Charlie Moore still hasn't officially signed with DePaul and that there has been zero reported about this since the Stadium article 10 days ago; nothing from Moore's camp, and nothing in general, Not saying he is still in play, but just seems odd to me that there has been no formal commitment announcement from the kid and complete radio silence as far as I can see...
