His mom told me he had a Kentucky offer 3 months before the Illinoishoops guy had it. She told me he had committed before Illinoishoops even knew about the offer. That guy actually argued with me for a month that there was no way Ulis had a Calipari offer. Then he went away for good.
Already ordered my custom Moore jersey, so you're on the hook for the cost if this doesn't work out.
Morgan Park is a very good school. Mae Jemison went there. Peter Jacobson. Most of my grade school class and a couple of my brothers and sisters (large Irish Catholic family).
Charlie is a legit student athlete. I hope he goes to NU and gets the sheepskin like a couple of my high school classmates who played bball for NU. It'll put him on a great path regardless of the basketball.

Little or no downside to that, if Charlie decides to go elsewhere, you can always claim that it's a Craig Moore jersey.
I graduated from Morgan Park with Mae Jemison but don't hold that against her. She was an impressive young woman. It was a big school about 3,000 students in the early 70's. I remember meeting her when we were sophomores. I thought she was one of the young teachers. Some people are a cut above the rest.
I doubt that she would remember anything about me but I have always been little proud to have been in school with her. We live in an area that is isolated and not ethnically diverse so bought my daughter a black Dr Barbie doll and called her Mae Jemison. Told her about my friend who was a Dr and scientist and an astronaut.
Evanston would give him just enough separation from the South Side to have a independent college life experience while still being able to visit and be visited.
You went to school with my older brother and sister. MPHS is a fine school. I know tons of doctors, lawyers and business owners who came out of there.
I tell my wife that one of the best things that ever happened to me was when they integrated my school in the very early 70's. The opportunity to become good friends with African American kids at an early age favorably shaped my life-long view on race. Which wasn't the easiest growing up where we grew up.
We had a similar kid at St. Ignatius, the actor Andre Braugher. He went to Stanford on a full ride and started in pre med. Somewhere in his sophomore year (I was told) he realized he had never gone on a date. His roommate told him to take a theater class where there are lots of girls.
Andre, like Dr. Jemison, was a notch above.
Charlie Moore will be great for the non basketball part of NU. He shouldn't overthink this.
I bet you both went to school with my uncle or father. Beverly guys that went to MPHS. Unfortunately, my uncle went on to Vietnam and never came back.
Vietnam lasted a long time. Nixon finally brought into a close about 6 months after I registered for the draft my freshman year of college.What a relief. I'll never forget the day in third grade when parents of one of my classmates came into Mrs Millan's class to get their daughter because her older brother was killed. I remember thinking I didn't know him because he was so old. He had to be at least 19.
OK, so how solid is your Moore source? There is a lot of distance between not solid and "Mom" with a good part of that still putting it in the "nowhere near as solid category," but still damn solid.
All before my time - he never knew that I would come to be. I got to know his widow and her subsequent children as my father maintained relations for years. I think there was a point in time when most people in this country knew someone adversely affected by that conflict. I'm pretty sure it led to the lack of video games and toy guns in the house were I was raised. Today, seems like a number of desert conflicts have replaced Vietnam and we continue to struggle with the notion that we need not fight everybody's battles....but I digress...
Someone mentioned surprise about the amount of MPHS representation. I'm not surprised. Beverly and the surrounding areas produced some smart people - and most where pretty athletic too. If not athletic, then into sports. Raise your hand if you caddied at Ridge or Beverly as a youth. Played little league at Kennedy, Beverly, Ridge parks - and strike out against the walls at MPHS, Sutherland, Barnabus, etc.
So, to see that those individuals wandered over to a message board about sports is no surprise. I haven't looked - but I bet Marist, my high school alma mater, has a similar message board by now too.
Weather about ready to lined them up to pursue the Evans Scholars money too. I left the Ridge membership about 15 years after a lifetime there. Caddying days taught me a lot. Mostly that i despise the early morning hours...
Ridge Country Club was a well known mob hang out in the 70's and 80's.

It was a bad idea to split the front nine from the back nine with railroad tracks at Evergreen and Beverly. Not a smart thing to do when the majority of the golfers were Irish.

That carried long past the 80's. Lots of really colorful personalities came out of there. Evergreen used to serve as the home course for Marist. I loved playing that course after learning on Ridge. The greens were a piece of cake.
Evergreen is a beautiful menards and meijer now - that used to be my go-to course. Best twilight rate around
I played little league in the Beverly/Bainard league. Enjoyed many meals at the Beverly Country Club but never took up golf. Couldn't caddie because I wasn't Irish
My grandfather used to play that course on Sunday mornings (his only day off) back when clubs still had wooden shafts. I imagine he hit a few into the canal as well.
Caddying was an interesting way to study the habits of the wealthy. Main thing I took away from it was that some of them are great guys and others are asshats just like anyone else. I remember caddying in a foursome with Chick Evans. He was a real gentleman.
My summer job when I was 16 was as the shoe-shine boy in the men's clubhouse at an exclusive country club in Cincinnati. Same experience.
