Charlie will get better offers than UK. Not sure why people keep thinking UK can just land any coordinator or HC.
This is the thing that cracks me up. Some people think UK is some type of dream job for football folks. It's not. It's two things. It's stepping stone job you take to get a better one or it's a end of the line job you take to just get to stay coaching at the D1 level.

First of all, I am giving Stoops 5 years. He's done everything right other than win but you can see the flashes and because of that, I am going to be a little more lenient on him. I do think Gran will be able to help him out along the way when it comes to managing the game. Last night was Gran's first game so I am reluctantly giving that a pass. However, we do need to do something about the defense.

Obviously our D line is the glaring weakness, but in 4 years, DJ Elliot has shown me not one thing that leads me to think he can run an even decent defense. I know he is Stoops' guy, but sometimes you have to make changes that make you feel selfish.

Would it be that bad if we canned Elliot and let stoops focus on the D for the remainder of the year?

Also, if things don't go well in Austin, would there be any way that we could lure Charlie Strong in as the DC? If he does well here, we start winning and he gets another job, that is fine. We would then just have to go find a proven DC which would be much easier following a little success. Even though I hate these silent promises/Head coach in waiting stuff, I wouldn't be opposed to saying that he could be in line for the job should Stoops not get it done here.
Charlie Strong will likely remain at Texas. The Notre Dame win was huge for his team the legion of Texas Exes. He's not remotely coming to Lexington.

Things are looking up for Charlie at Texas. He will have them back to a perennial top 15 program in another season or two.

Baylor and Aggies going back to were the realistically belong is going to give ole Charlie a boost.

If things for some reason don't go according to plan Charlie is not going to have to be a DC...at least not at UK...he may take a quick temp gig at a top tier program, but he is always going to have suitors.

If things get desperate for UK on the defensive side of the ball I think CMS needs to call up Randy Shannon and have Mitch write a blank check.

After that, I'd look into Ed Orgeron.

CMS' biggest mistake was not bringing aboard an experienced DC, somebody who had P5 credentials.

One win doesn't mean he has been a success at Texas but he and his staff definitely deserve credit for the win. He beat Oklahoma last year and then two weeks later got smoked by Iowa State and finished with a 5-7 record. So there is nothing to retract at all.

Hold that thought.

No one is giving head coach in waiting title anymore, that title carries the same restrictions about off campus recruiting as the head coach title does.

I call it what is was, a win. Title aspirations does not make a title worthy team. Long season still to go.

Perhaps. But, they rank them, usually based upon what happened last year and what is returning. Absent some bad breaks, ND was on the cusp of the playoff last year. If you think they are overrated, you may be right. That would suit me fine. But teams have to beat the teams in front of them and most pundits think ND is pretty darn good.

Ok, I will buy that but, with the season just starting, I am not ready to call anyone world beaters yet.

You bring my 5 year old into an attack when he was never mentioned in this thread. Thats low. very low. bad form. and it makes you look like trash. You know that right?

You brought your five year old into this. And, seriously, if you are teaching your son that cheating is acceptable because others cheat, you are not serving your son. That is serious advice. He deserves more than that kind of teaching.

Yeah, you see nothing. Hopefully after pride subsides, you will decide to teach your son better than your spout here.

My kids have character. They never gave the excuse that someone else was cheating or behaving poorly so they could do the same (after about the age of five, that is). But thanks.

my son has autism and im very protective of him. Sweetest kid in the world. loves everyone. So you can see how level 40000 nuclear p*ssed I am when you accuse me of doing my son wrong
