1st inning break out - hopefully that means the slump is broken.
Reminiscent of the early season team.

Charlotte hitters are much tougher outs than we are - really extend their at bats by fighting off 3rd strikes.

Our hitting has fallen apart. It seemed like we recognized pitches so well a few weeks back and now we just we can't hit anything. Lots of weak swings and out of the zone cuts. No confidence at all.

Hopefully this post will jinx our lack of hitting.

Veach has really good movement. His control, location not so much. He could be a good one. What class is he?

Imo we've gotten away from compact swings where you have more time to identify a pitch by having the barrel in the zone longer in the end. We did hold on to a similar swing for two strikes but that seems to have disappeared as well. Lacking all that, we see weak swings in an effort to keep the barrel in the zone longer. Unsuccessful with that, we have guys guessing what pitch is coming next. None of that is working out well for us nor should it. Our compact swings should have been maintained. They werent... same as every other year here. Disapointing to say the least.

Our pitching sucks. I guess we can excuse it since Noah Hall has been out for half the season. Going 0-2 against Charlotte is embarrassing.

I sit here and scream, why are you taking that pitch? - what are you looking for.

I like Mccreery. We need someone to step up before the postseason. Might as well be him

Wow. Just wow. It's hard to turn me into a pessimist, but at this point I'm guessing Tennessee is going to crush, CRUSH us this weekend.

I've been reluctant to say pitching has been a huge problem lately the way we've looked at the plate but yeah pitching is losing us this game. The offense is battling... good for them.

Exactly. I've coached a lot of hitters in my time. I have never told a batter to guess what's coming next. Ever.
In my experience, the first pitch is often the best one you will see. Be ready to smash it if you like it!

Agreed. Same can be said for a 3-0 count but I wouldnt go that far. lol. Maybe say one pitch/one location. That's about as close as I will come to anticipation with any pitch

Man. What a kick and the nuts this late in the season. We’re hanging onto a regional by a thread. Last thing we needed was to lose a midweek game to Charlotte…again!

Hope we saved our best pitching for TN because this was bad.
Given the 1st inning start, this should have been in the win column.
Surely all the dumb mistakes are now out of our system.

Can't get thrown out at the plate in that situation. Surely Wingo did not send him?
Hard to be critical of Messina after all he has done this season. A tough play to be sure but there were many other reasons we lost this game....
