I love Duke period, looking forward to the post season. I look at his frame, not exactly a push over, athletic, I question his hands since he fumbles the ball often especially in traffic. Is it so hard for him to give us 4-6 points, 3-4 boards? Perhaps more minutes? If Jeter stayed in last night I ask myself jeez he should be able to compete with Meeks on the glass where he has the height advantage but not the strength. We lose by 4 after being out rebounded by 30 +?

I love Jeter's intensity and potential! I don't understand why K didn't try a lineup of Kennard, Allen, Ingram, Jeter, and Plumlee last night. I think this could of helped with rebounding and challenge unc more in the post.

Chase is most comfortable playing along side another big like he did in HS with Zimmerman. Playing as the only big makes him think so much that it's just speeds up the game and he's reacting rather than anticipating.

It may take Chase until his junior year for him to be consistent with his game and that's ok. Hope he is patient enough to see it through. Sometimes it does take big guys a little longer even 5 star big guys. Amile, Marshall and big Zoubeck stuck it out to name a few . He will make us proud. Love to see Chase as a senior. OFC

Kid's got a great attitude. I bet he will improve a lot in the offseason and earn a bunch of minutes next year. Just needs confidence.

Dunno which Jeter you've been watching all year, but he may have size but clearly lacks strength. His mind is also way ahead of his hands and is turnover machine on offense. Reminds me a lot of all three of the Plumlees their freshman years.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see his maturation, but I have no problem with K's approach to the UNC game. We were getting the shots we wanted on offense, we just didn't make enough. I mean the first 5-6 minutes of both halves were brutal, and Jeter wouldn't have helped in that departments. We got killed on the rebounding margin b/c after every offensive possession we sent our guys back to prevent runouts by UNC in transition, which we did pretty well with last night.

Chase's time will come, but patience is key.

I guess since I have tried to hype Jeter all year, I should say something about him. Chase really does have a great attitude, always the first one on the bench to jump and cheer a great play on the court, and the ability is there, I just think the maturity hasn't caught up with him yet. He is very young, and more than likely thinks too much on the floor, instead of just reacting. In his defense, part of that comes with experience and just letting the game come to him. I was really hoping that by the end of the year he could really give the team valuable minutes, it just hasn't happened.
I strongly believe that he is one of the keys to how far we can advance in the NCAAT, as we must have one more body show up.
Chase will make a huge improvement between this year and next, and I am glad he is at Duke.
Go Duke!!

Jeter is the perfect example of the game going so fast he's making mistakes because he's not exactly ready. Once the game slows down for him a little and he understands what he's doing, he'll be good. Until then, he needs to add a little muscle and work on catching the ball on the sqaures

I agree. The game is just to fast for Jeter right now.

To the point of him being on the floor with another big. I think he is more comfortable to so we might see some short minutes with him and Marshall on the floor who knows

Chase was rated 15th in his class. Those other guys you mentioned - Amile (30), Marshall (62), and Zoubek (28) were lower. I agree that we shouldn't expect much before his junior year, but that wasn't anyone's expectation when he was recruited. I really hope he makes a big jump next year, because our 2017 class may have two top-5 bigs and I'd hate to see Chase buried on the bench again.

Keep in mind, a lot of today's freshman are a year and a half older than Chase. That really is a big difference. Almost every game some announcer who is paid a fortune to babble and add keen insights provided by others mentions that Thornton should still be in High School. Well, Chase is several months younger than Derryck.

Scouting ranks aren't always an indication of instant production. A kid like Chase could have a much bigger impact over a 4 year career then a kid ranked in the 20s who had more opportunity as a freshman.

Practice can't replicate game reps either. Had Chase played more minutes, he would likely be better since confidence on the court is so important. At the same time...Duke was a better team early with Jeter not playing much because he made freshman mistakes.

There are some years I wished K would've used some subs more but this team was always going to be in for a fight in most games. The record we have is based on Ks drive to win each game...even if it may slow the growth of a player or two.

I believe that K is doing everything he can with Jeter. He just isn't there yet physically, mentally, or athletically.

In order for this team to be great, we just have to flat out-score teams, and that ain't happening with Chase and Marshall on the floor together. Go back and watch the LVille game when they were forced to play together. We could not do anything! We were playing 3 on 5 and did not get ANY good looks.
