I know I got on him for the last two minutes tonight, but he plays hard and gives you his all. His mistakes are correctable.

His effort is there, that's all you can ask.

So I’m a pretty positive NU fan, but I am done watching Chase Audige. Thanks for your defense and your minutes, but I just don’t like watching your offensive game. I can’t believe he’s a fun teammate.

Even if he helps us get to the tourney, I am ready to move on. I can’t think of a top 3 NU squad member I dislike watching more.
If you want to see us win, you need to see Chase on the floor. We would have a hard time winning even a single BIG game without him. Whether you like him or not, there is no one on this roster that can take his place right now. He is also a huge part of the leadership that has gotten us this far this year. If you cannot see that, I don't know what to tell you other than if he was gone, everyone else would miss him a lot. If they did not it would becaue NU BB would have become so unwatchable that they just turned it off

Is he perfect? Heck no but then neither is anyone else on this team or on this board

No lie!! Audige is an imperfect player in a horribly imperfect bunch. But God love 'em for keeping it together and playing their asses off. So impressive!

After the game, Ohio State's coach Holtman pointed out that his star Freshman Sensabaugh had his worst game (1 for 8 shooting) saying "he is drawing all the best defenders in the league and it wasn't always that way earlier." Gee, I wonder who the defender was last night?

Excellent point. Sensabaugh was a total non factor.

In The Journey clip Stephen Bardo said he is the best two way player in the Big Ten.

Not faint praise. Pretty impressive, actually.

If someone can't appreciate him and understand how important he is to the team after seeing that, don't know what to tell you

In fairness, Audige was also on Sueing a lot and he had a good game. But does not change the fact Audige is an exceptional defender.

One big reason Chase is playing much better this year is because he is healthy.
Last year he was maybe 80%.He plays 38 to 40 minutes a game guards the other teams best scorer and is our second leading scorer. One of the top defenders in the nation.Suffice it to say we would not be have the record this year without Chase. As he said after the Wisconsin game he is gonna make some mistakes but I'll take him anytime.
In fairness, we can discuss all we want whether last season was conditioned by this or that. But the body of evidence we had last season was the previous season. And Audige's shot selection was abysmal.

Of course none of that denies that he is having a fantastice season. And still we crap on our players. In most cases, actually on our best players.

The other thing that's cool in the video is a glimpse into how they staff practice. I see BMac and Tailor Battle on the court but there was at least one guy I didn't recognize - tall white guy with short hair. Hard to run a full practice with the 8 healthy guys in the rotation, plus RDIII, Smith and Gus.

Ya' know.... after reading back through this thread, I'm starting to suspect that the OP is actually Chase himself and he posted that betting on the fact that a bunch of us would come on here and sing his praises in defense. These Northwestern kids are very crafty!!

Chase can destroy B1G defenses and fans' stomachs at the same time. His shooting and decisions on offense were pretty crap for the first 35+ minutes against Purdue. Then he took over and got the win for us.

Obviously, his shooting was crap. But do you really think his decisions were bad? The guy had a ton of clear, open shots. His production has been poor for a few games now ... except four fabulously blessed minutes.

He took several bad and rushed shots, yeah.

The only thing I see when looking at this list is what could have / should have been with Coble playing with Shurna. It makes me so very, very sad.

Another would be Crawford playing a full season w/ Swop.

Crawford, Swop and Hearn would have been a pretty good trio, and if Cobb had remained academically eligible, a pretty good foursome.

You are right. He did. But as it's unfolding, Matt is not gonna take shots, Beran is offensively turtling in his shell... So you kind of give him a pass when no one other than Boo seems to want to step up.

At the end of the day you cat criticize him because he won the game largely by himself - not entirely by himself, several other guys made big plays on both ends of the court late. He was a liability for 80% of the game… but then he just told Boo he had it from here and took Purdue down.

You can’t argue with results.

The shhoting was off for sure. Not sure the decision making was that bad though

His shots were off but hard to say he was a liability. His D was still sound as he made Loyer basically disappear

Most of he shots we good, just have to make them.

But, the one that was terrible was NU came down on a break late in the game. Edey was behind the play and Purdue had no rim protection. Chase pulled up for a 3 pointer instead of getting to the basket.

That was bad.
