While he may have been passed over. There are passing schemes out there that use a rotation of several receivers. Throw the ball a little more and there will be more opportunities for other guys too. Sadly Stoops refuses to implement such a passing scheme.
If he refuses next year he will end up with a losing record. Unless C Rod come back! There isn't a single back on this team that can take 20 CPG. I really don't see anyone close to CRod in the portal either. So he better figure out how to open up the run with the pass!

The two matters are not really related, but there are all kinds of reasons to be confident Brown and Key are staying. Key grew up in Lexington and his father was a UK player. Brown already announced he is staying. Both have started in the SEC as true freshmen, and it doesn't get much better than that. Ever since Maywood's playing time began to drop off, I have expected him to transfer out.

Didn't Stoops say we had 4 or 5 guys that looked like potential NFL receivers? Pretty sure Magwood was one of them. But, this is what happens when you bring guys in with the promise of a better passing game and then don't deliver.
Key, Brown, Crowdus, Robinson and CLew were the ones I think he mentioned.

Chauncey lost moments as the season progressed. RLew became more prominent. Magwood is a competitor, he seemed to lose focus on some plays, but was dynamic with the ball in his hands. His catch over the shoulder yesterday on the kickoff was important, as I am not sure Brown could have gotten to that in the air. I wish he would stick around, but he knew that Liam saw a potential in that offense that Scang evidently has not for this offense. Cummings might be in the same position.

And Christian Lewis to the list...just tweeted something similar to magwood
Geez, I do not envy college football coaches other than their salary at all. It's gonna be tough to have decent backups at any position if everyone goes to the portal thinking they can start elsewhere. It's 24/7/365 recruiting, portal and maintaining your existing players. I can see why a lot of coaches bolt for the NFL if they get the opportunity. You have to absolutely eat, sleep and breathe (and love) football to put up with all the BS that goes along with just wanting to be a coach and teach young kids.

I’m not going to cry if Magwood leaves but UK needs some Wr rotation. He was going to be a solid backup Wr.

UK's wanting more speed at WR. '23 commits fit that bill.

Wonder if Lewis ends up at Troy? He's from Alabama and Sumrall was his primary recruiter at UK.

When your goal is to score 18-20 ppg does it really matter? Stoops precious D better be the best in the country next year

Im surprised he is leaving. With Robinson leaving after this year, I think he had the slot next year. Hopeful they can convince him to come back.
The problem we have for him is two fold…we don’t get a lot of snaps for rotation in and even though he had a moment or two we really didn’t do a lot for Robinson this season to point to. Combine that with not knowing what kind of qb will be here and I would expect a lot of looking around even if they haven’t pulled the trigger on the portal yet. It wouldn’t stun me if Crowdus stays one more year but I would be surprised. He was complaining around town well before he made the comment to the reporter. I’m not sure I would lose sleep over him specifically but if you have this vast exodus it leaves you with very little if you don’t hit in the portal and who you going to attract with this kind of offense?

We are back in a salesman mode after the way things turned out this year. I like Magwood and think his best days are ahead of him. I agree with you on what these guys have to consider as far as team make up for next year.

If that’s his reason, that doesn’t give you the warm n fuzzies for next year’s offense and quarterback.

I don’t get all of this not that good, no big loss stuff. He was going to be a junior next year, pretty sure handed receiver, not afraid to make the catch in traffic.

Need a proven slot next year, Magwood likely would have been that. It’s not game changer but it is a loss.
Was magwood elite? No. But he was a solid receiver. Could be wrong but I think it says something that they didn’t really issue a statement. Just ‘been real guys’

If we can hang on to Brown and Key, looks like Lewis is the next in line for playing time and a couple of top WR's coming in. Might help if these guys knows pretty quick who will be throwing to them.

We have some really good ones coming in next year. He got passes over by freshman this year that will be here next year as sophomores and 2 studs coming in. He could see the writing on the wall

This. We have loads of talent coming in to play for the style of offense that half the fans hate. However it would be nice as noted above if we could also have some experienced depth. We can't just constantly trot out freshman in that position.

Agree. But when you’re bringing in Freshman that are better the greatest thing happens. They become Sophomores. Like Brown, Key, and Kattus will be next year. When you raise the bar and bring in better players the ones below them with the portal will leave. It’s the new way of college 🏈

Before I worry about losing Magwood let's breakdown the WR depth chart

X - Key/Christian Lewis
Z - Bariaon Brown/Demarcus Harris

Slot - It sounds like Tayvion Robinson might run it back...so that might be what pushed Magwood to jet.

I think Rayshean Lewis beat out Magwood at slot as he played all the snaps when Tayvion went out. But Lewis is a SR I think.

I assume Crowdus is going to be a slot WR down the road.
Anthony Jordan is fastest guy on team and smallest. I assume he'll go outside as X Wr to get him deep.
Brandon White is in the mix
I give up on Tae Tae Crumes

I imagine Anthony Jordan and Shamari Porter could factor into depth as well. So I can't lose my mind over Magwood if he leaves. But I agree we need to keep guys that are glue guys and give us solid WR reps. I love Barion but he runs routes like crap and when you need to run a route correctly to create space for an under route and you half *** it...Key gets blown up at Tennessee and pick six happens.

I'm sure Porter and Anthony Brown already committed and Anthony and White bei g red shirts had a lot yo do with him hitting the portal. There may be a couple more WR's coming on board also.

Chris Lewis has also indicated a transfer.
