7 for 8 in the first half is pretty wild. I think we could see similar type games from Brea if he was the focal point and got as many minutes.

Just for comparison though, guy is 21 for 40 on the season where Brea is 20 for 27.... And Lanier is getting 5-6 more minutes a game than Brea.
I’d like to see Brea get at least as many 3 attempts as his did tonight every game. I think he should easily shoot 10 most games. Lanier started slow but he’s really come into his own here the last week or so.

They played a double overtime game just last night. Not sure I would take much from this one.
So did St John and they looked better against UVA than Baylor. They must be in better condition than Baylor.

40-14 Vols over Baylor
I really don’t think Baylor is that good (at this point..raw athletes struggle to play cohesive basketball). They got lucky against a St. John’s squad that was physically overmatched but still managed to get up by 17.

Good teams don’t consistently get behind by 15-20+. Baylor has played 6 games and 50% of them they’ve trailed by 17+

We didn't get Brea instead of Lanier.

We had already had Brea locked up for a good while when we were going after Lanier.

It was Jaxson Robinson we were targeting at the same time as Lanier, trying to fill our last spot and take our best shot at landing either a "go get a bucket" guy or at least a guy with a proven record of being able to get his even as the number-one scorer with defenses keying on him, to preserve that critically high value we were planning to get from having so many distance threats in our offense.

I know Lanier is great but I'm very happy with having Jax instead of him.

Yeah St. John’s flat blew that game. You are correct but they have the potential to be very good. Kinda scary they have the record they do playing that bad half the time. It will bite them against good teams though.

Theyre a Calipari style team. Drew is just a more modern version without the antics.

But in true Tennessee fashion they will choke at the end like they always do
We can only hope.
If the FB team makes the 12 team playoff their fans will be even more insufferable than they are now.
UK sat and watched for a decade while UT was struggling in every sport and we still can't beat them in FB, BB, WSB, WBB, heck we have lost something like 7 out of 10 in freaking basketball.

Time for a change at UK athletics.

On the basketball side we’re safe, as long as Barnes is there they will choke. On football I just don’t know if there offense can score enough to seriously challenge

I think this will be Barnes best team at Tennessee.

Hard for me to see how they are better than last years team that won the SEC and made the elite 8.

They lost 5 of their top 7 players from last year, and while they did have some good portal additions, no one on their team is as good as Knecht was for them last year.

Lol what? It's tied 11-11 or 11-12 since 2016.

Well I don’t pay much attention to them and have only seen one game so probably/hopefully you are right.
