Based on the WGN broadcast, yes it would be - I believe they said it was the first time a Big Ten game had a female ref.One of the refs tonight was a woman, Crystal Hogan.
Is this the first woman to ref a men's game in WR?
I'm glad we've come to a point where I'm the only idiot who notices this.
Welcome to Evanston, CH. Hope you're no Ted Valentine.
I may have imagined this, but I recall a moment in the game where she made a call or was discussing something with Nance and as he was walking away, it sure looked like he went to do the little conciliatory butt slap that guys give each other in sports. It then looked like he caught himself as he was about to do it and stopped. Pete was being totally respectful, so it was harmless, but a little humorous. One of the refs tonight was a woman, Crystal Hogan.

On the BTN+ broadcast they specifically said first for a Big Ten men's basketball game. So I would suspect not first time at Welsh-Ryan, to the original poster's Q, but it must be first for a men's bball game at NU.Based on the WGN broadcast, yes it would be - I believe they said it was the first time a Big Ten game had a female ref.
The original poster’s Q was about a men’s game (specifically). But based on a close listening to the WGN radio broadcast, I saw no problems with the officiating either. On the BTN+ broadcast they specifically said first for a Big Ten men's basketball game. I had no complaints about the reffing last night, so I think well done by her and the rest of the crew.
Of course, what complaints will we have in a 40-point blowout??The original poster’s Q was about a men’s game (specifically). But based on a close listening to the WGN radio broadcast, I saw no problems with the officiating either.
Lol. I said I listened on the radio and saw no problems with the officiating - and the margin is what made my comment ridiculous?Of course, what complaints will we have in a 40-point blowout??
ha.... i missed that... though any fan could still find a reason to complain about the officiating even over radio!Lol. I said I listened on the radio and saw no problems with the officiating - and the margin is what made my comment ridiculous?

If your were listening to the game, how would you see a problem? The original poster’s Q was about a men’s game (specifically). But based on a close listening to the WGN radio broadcast, I saw no problems with the officiating either.
