Anyone here familiar with Delco's in Chadds Ford near Philadelphia?
They have one don here in Clearwater Fl. Went there the other day and loved the place

Delcos has been sold at the ballpark in Clearwater for some time. Long time Phillies scribe Jim Salisbury gave them an annual thumbs up. Want a horrible cheesesteak in Clearwater? Frenchy’s on Wednesday night special. Hideous.

Delco's is one of the only sandwiches in the Bay area that is worth anything.

Damn it now I really want one.

Jersey Mike's is not a bad sandwich....Publix, not so much.

Publix subs in general are excellent (the chicken tender sub is a favorite). But you cannot turn roast beef in a toaster oven into Philly no matter hard you try.

The rule should be: no flat top griddle, by law you can't call it a Philly.

All that matters is Steves Prince of Steaks. But I live near Chadds Ford and never heard of Delco's. I'll have to explore.

Shalom
Delcos has a location in the strip mall at Painters Crossing (Rt 1 and Rt 202). That said, I was never impressed by their product. There are a lot of better choices in the area.

I recently had a cheese steak sandwich at Woody’s in Dewey Beach, and, damn, it was very fine. It was definitely not a Philly Cheesesteak, and was not advertised as such, but whatever. I like Woody’s; it’s too loud for me (I’m not able to converse) but has a great vibe, and the beer selection is decent.

That chipolte sauce on Jersey Mike’s cheesesteaks is awesome. It’s nothing like a true Philly steak, but my wife and I split those all the time. They’re great.

Ive been getting into making my phillys at home recently, biggest problems i ran into were slicing the meat thin enough (japanese mandoline took care of that problem) and finding a good enough bread/hoagie roll to put it on. i live in state college anyone have any suggestions on rolls?

I've been away from PA for long enough that I accept Italian Beef to be in the same general category as Cheesesteaks. I mean, the Italian beef has gravy, that's a big win.

They do a good job at Bruce's in Pinellas Park, but I'm not sure if they're open anymore. Good bread.

No advice on rolls but at Penns Valley Meat Market in Millheim you can get steak sliced tissue thin. Enough for three sandwiches for around $6.00.

Have them shipped from Sarcone’s Bakery, 9th St. in South Philadelphia.

I've always considered Italian beef to be a Chicago thing but I've always liked them. Provolone is my preferred cheese on them. Where in Pinellas Park is Bruce's?

Agree with some other suggestions here. The secret to a good cheesesteak or hoagie is the roll. You get too far away from Philly and they try to make sandwiches out of rolls that taste like long hot dog rolls. Some even claim to add Italian dressing - walk away.

And also, don’t be putting cheddar cheese on a cheesesteak. It’s provolone in my book, American if you must, and I know some use cheese wiz (yuk). Add fried onions, and embellish with mushrooms or peppers as you wish. And as said above slice the steak thin and cook on a griddle.

Without a doubt it's a Chicago thing. I don't appreciate the ketchup discrimination from those folks but they can make a good sandwich.

But it doesn't matter because my worst fears are true

All true but finding those rolls outside the Philly area I’d tough. There was a bakery In Baltimore that had good rolls, but I forget the name. In WV? Not a chance.

Yup, slice the steak "thin" so that when it comes of the griddle it has the consistency and taste of cheap shoe leather.

if you leave them on there too long, it should only take a second

Too be fair the only reason to slice it thin is if you use a cheap cut of beef. If you use rib eye , there is no need to cut it super thin. If you use top or bottom round, you better slice it thin

A second is all it takes from going raw to overdone the way most of it is sliced. Hate to tell most of yinz, but what yinz're tasting isn't meat, but rendered fat.

Agree, my go-to steak at Jersey Mike's is The Big Kahuna, no jalapenos and add the chipotle mayo.

Marc: How do you like your meat?

Customer: Gray.

Hope he got comped that griddle, because if he bough it from HSN, he got ripped off.
And why do you care? You seem obsessed…..Did you forget to take your meds today?
