At The Clash, a national dual-meet tournament in Rochester, Minnesoder . . .

OPRF defeated Sandburg 54-6, taking 12 of 14 weights.

Coaching, emphasis on the sport, dedicated kids and parents, good feeder programs and a lot of hard work can do wonders.

Attitude.

I do agree with all you stated, but getting kids from the Harvey Twisters also helps.

10 of their starters went to Jr High somewhere other than their district.

And? Isn't that the ongoing complaint over private schools?
OPRF builds a winning wrestling program that attracts great talent and that's bad?
Fenwick builds a great water polo program that attracts the best players and that's good?

Don't get it.
I'm a private school defender in almost every case but I don't see the issue here.

Talk to a coach in the WSC and their feelings about OPRF.

They don't live there and go for free. At least with the privates some of them actually pay something. .

I'm generally a public school guy, but, it is legal for the privates to bring kids in from other areas as part of IHSA rules, for public schools it is not.
The statement regarding the thoughts of other WSC coaches is correct.

Watching Oak Hill baskets....talk about a program that recruits far and wide. How are they even nationally ranked...they are a college program.

OPRF has the best HS coach in the country. It's no surprise that talented athletes would want to be coached by Coach Powell. No different than talented football athletes wanting to play for Coach Frank.

Of course that is a matter of opinion, but, it is hard to argue with the success they are having right now.
My understanding is that he is an assistant coach at this point in time. Yes, I'm well aware of the medical issues involved.
There is a huge difference between a private school obtaining athletes/students from within their legal radius and a public high school obtaining athletes/students from outside their district if that were to occur.

I believe in most cases the kids parents pay tuition at MC. At least that's how it worked when my kids were at 6410.

I am sure all the kids in question reside within school district. Where a kid resides is up to parents. If a family lives within a district that does not fit what they are looking for in high school, they have 2 choices. Private school or move. When my kids were at this stage, we decided to move. In my case it was more about academics. Other families may have other reason to make decisions they believe are in their kids best interest. Not sure why that is an issue.
