Agree with this and i never count Loyola out as there is a lot more football to play. I know Providence is coming up but who else do they play?
Is there a ranking for sandlot football? If so then Hope is #1. Don’t get me wrong they are a good team but the sandlot playbook was in full force last Friday. Shame on Provi for allowing 42 points.
When is someone going to talk about Kuska & SR???
1 Win & 5 losses, is there a gauge on the talk of the hot seat getting hotter?
Hearing a lot of alumni not real happy things seem bad under his leadership.
Could it be time for a change? Clean house of the staff? Would seem that with all the school changes the past several years that this would be likely unless they pull off a upset of Loyola. Will they get past St Laurence this week???

Apparently the best offense you have seen all year and only 2A.
Why?? Because he is having a down year, the talent isn't there, the camaraderie isn't there. Seems like we had this conversation about Badke last year, how about when MC didn't make the play-offs 2 years ago.
Should Holecek be under the microscope for his underachieving team?
The team is banged up right now and probably cant recover from it. I dont see them winning 2 more games. Who would be happy with a 1-5 record and all the armchair qb's and haters are going to *****.
The topic of making coaching change is quite common with parents and fans of private schools especially those with storied, winning traditions. At PC, when the team failed to make the playoffs and had a few down years after their 2009 finals appearance everyone wanted coaching changes. Eventually they made some changes at OC. Patience usually is not an option at privates because there is an expectation of winning championships and players getting scholarships to continue to play in college. If a team is having a down year then there is a perception that college coaches won’t waste their time with a 2-7 team unless there are stud players they want to look at. At PC after a few down years they won it all in 2014 and had a few Q-finals appearances along the way. Winning eventually erases the past. I can see changes at head coach if a team struggles for multiple years however keep in mind private school success is a function of “what the school has to offer” (commonly referred to as recruiting) coupled with tradition and legacy however the latter two don’t pay the tuition bill. PC is currently facing the reality of let’s say “competitive marketing” from JCA, StL, SR etc. This eventually can hurt the product put in the field and it doesn’t matter who the head coach is. Bottom line is give Kuska a break. I can’t imagine the administration will allow him or the football program to fail for any extended period of time . Too much tradition and too much high expectations.
And Ignatius lost to Loyola due to a bad non call at the end of the game on a safety.
Two of my brother-in-laws are SR grads as are their sons. If Kuska is let go they said their annual donations would stop. Rather than subtraction they would like to see additions. Father Tom McCarthy back in some position. Get a couple of full time coaches on staff. Most coaches are unpaid volunteers. And hire a new teacher or two. SR selective enrollment numbers were partly based on keeping the teaching staff at present levels not filling recent retirements. They got the money.
My nephews paid for speed, strength, and agility coaches off site. While alumni banter on this site is one thing the kids from all the CCL and ESCC work out a lot with each other off season. Larger donors are invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony at their new fitness center. My brother-in-laws will be there and want to add or train school staff to run the center.

If Rita replaces Kuska, I don’t think anyone would be surprised. I’ll never say he deserves to be fired, he’s been very loyal to his Alma Mater, but it would be justified. No playoffs in 2012, 2015, and 2018. Yes he hoisted a State Championship trophy but with the talent that’s gone through that school, he should have 5. They haven’t made it past the quarter finals in.....well I can’t even remember. With that being said, good and talented players keep coming in regardless, and having a son that he recruited heavily, he’s a very professional and respectful man. He didn’t downgrade other schools, he focused on why he thought Rita would be a good fit. Even though he chose MC, he really liked Kuska. So until the talent and the numbers stop coming through the door, they’ll keep him around.
Good stuff. Like I said last season when Badke was taking a beating, I said it was a usual recruiting tool to talk about a private school’s head coach job situation.
And like I said last year, that tactic has sort of lost its impact, because with an MC, BR, SR and Marist, the alumni and football communities of those schools, you know a quality person and coach will be hired.
I’m not saying that tactic is being used now against SR, just par for the course when a traditional power has a down year.
MC went through a rough transition and it looks like the program arrows up, BR went through the rumors last year and have a very good Frosh team, and Marist post-Dunn keeps rolling along.

Why so many off season coaches? Train school staff who will run the facilty, do they not have a conditioning guy? Don't know just asking
Yes, they have a program strength and conditioning coach.
As far as parents’ hiring private trainers, that’s just their prerogative to try to maximize their teenager’s 4 years where potential eventually meets reality.
There are kids that have the opportunity to play at the next level. Game stats are part of the equation. They go to combines also to showcase their skills. Times in the 40, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, 3 cone drill, and the agility shuttle can be the deciding factor on a Division 1 scholarship offer. If there are 100+ kids in the football program and the other off-season sports it’s hard to get one on one training in with a coach and on the machines. Families are just looking for an edge.
I understand the draw off site coaches/trainers, kids (and or parents) just want more opportunities to enhance their measurables and overall skill that maybe the school cannot provide. Do I think it's always worth it and is in the kids best interest? That is a whole separate story...
Most kids don't get a D1 scholarship, alot of families are misinformed by these trainers who get their $ whether the kid achieve goal or not. Might come out cheaper linking with the wrestling or track program, who may do the same things. College coaches focus seem to be on speed and play making ability showcased at team camps (game film also) along with the measurable.
