Some great free throw shooting by Chicago State last night. They showed some of that against the Cats. Nice asset when you have the lead like they did. I heard CCC with Eanet on the postgame say that they had a couple of previously highly rated transfers on that team.

I have long tried to fight the natural instinct of looking at things from a transitive perspective. It is tempting, it has some logic, but it is just so unreliable. And yet, I still do it all the time.

• Georgetown slaughtered WI Green Bay and UW Madison struggled. Well, Georgetown was just up by 2 at the half
• Eastern Michigan almost beat MI, actually saw the game, they had it, they led the whole game. Next game they lost by 28 to Bradley
• Colorado lost to Grambling and, next game, they beat Tennessee
• Minnesota, last year, was undefeated in non conference, even started 1-1 in conference. They had faced "decent" Western Kentucky, Mississippi State and Pittsburgh. They went on to be the worst team in the B1G
• Chicago State itself lost to St Thomas by 22 and the game wasn't ever close

I guess the point is that teams are still settling down. Chicago State or Georgetown are basically new teams anyway. They can recover to be somewhat decent (for their level) or they can be a disaster.

Anyway, a win is better than a loss against anyone. And, personally, I believe it's encouraging that Akok and Wahab really did not even remotely presented a problem for us.

Last year, didn't the Cats hold leads late in many games but then lost? There wasn't any sign of that against Georgetown. I find that encouraging.

It wasn't just last year. It's been a pattern over the past several years. No lead was too large to blow.
