It’s comedy when 3 games into the season some are so negative and lose all sense of reason about the season. One game does not define any season.
Lose sense of reason? You mean like the ones who want Pope fired over one game or the ones who crumble into a ball if you say he got outcoached last night? Because both lack reason. I don’t know when our fans became so sensitive that we can’t be honest about reality anymore. I love Coach Pope and continue to believe in him, but getting down by 20 points to our rival is unacceptable when we have the talent to prevent that from happening. You are not a better fan than anyone else if you are hand clapping while we are getting our cheeks pounded. Most of the people on this board are here because we love the Cats and yet anyone who says anything *negative* about Pope needs to be excommunicated, huh? It’s comedy when 3 games into the season some are so negative and lose all sense of reason about the season. We got out played, out coached, and out hustled. Point blank. That's unacceptable and every fan is welcome to complain and criticize (and should), but some of the reactions here and on socials are asinine and completely lack perspective. Our fanbase eats itself so badly after a loss that it's damn-near impossible to discern the trolls from the chicken littles. It's a problem, genuinely.Lose sense of reason? It’s pretty easy to discern the trolls, man. There are some people on the board like Hoskins who ONLY have negative things to say and never anything positive. I’d also argue the people drawing battle lines and starting civil wars over anything critical being said about Pope are also head in the sand trolls as well. Sky isn't falling, but it is gray right now. Not clear ...

Oweh is trying to be the 3 point shooter the NBA wants IMO and Pope is going to have to learn to coach D if he ever wants to win it all.I don’t think it has anything to do with outplayed or out coached or out hustled. I’ve played ball injured. Those that have know what that was. As soon as Louisville started hitting everywhere they knew we can’t match it. Oweh is hurt. Jlow is hurt. We’ve got guys on the dribble who aren’t meant for it. They knew early winning was going to be nearly impossible and it seeped into their head. Jlow was grabbing at his arm and grimacing, and he’s never played with these guys. He doesn’t have experience with them.
It sucks but it is what it is. You’re not going to out hustle this team that way. They’re not synced up and they’re hurt.
It's becoming a new norm.Let's just keep making excuses for every time we lose, and move forward.
It’s gotten to a point where the only thing you’re allowed to say after a loss is how justifiable it is…or you aren’t a “real” fan. It's a message board for sports not The American Journal of Medicine. Venting and overreacting (wins and losses) is par for the course.
I don't pay much attention to it really. What someone thinks about how I fan means nothing to me.It’s gotten to a point where the only thing you’re allowed to say after a loss is how justifiable it is…or you aren’t a “real” fan.
If brown doesn't go nuclear last night do the cards win that game?It is hard to argue that Louisville does not have the better coach right now. Go back to last year's game in Rupp, if Butler doesn't go nuclear does UK win that game?
Let's be honest here. Not one UK fan will deny that Pope got outcoached last night, we absolutely can all agree on that.Lose sense of reason? Man, you don't really get to say this. You were coming unglued in the game thread. If anyone is sensitive, it's you guys that lost your minds last night.I seriously think some people are too sensitive for message board...
Imagine getting pissed because UK got down by 20 and were playing like crap. It's a message board so if you only want sunshine thoughts put every person who doesn't constantly gush over Pope and the team on ignore.Man, you don't really get to say this. You were coming unglued in the game thread. If anyone is sensitive, it's you guys that lost your minds last night.
I disagree. We lost by 8 on the road in the 3rd game of the season against a team that had this game circled for months.Sky isn't falling, but it is gray right now. Not clear ...
Brother, you’re welcome to show me a single post of mine where I bashed Pope. I always have been a huge Pope supporter and stand by everything I said about how we played last night. We have work to do, but the personnel to get it done.Let's be honest here. Not one UK fan will deny that Pope got outcoached last night, we absolutely can all agree on that.
Problem here is, saying Pope was getting outcoached, was not what got the backlash in the game thread. You know this, but for some reason, you're trying to make it seem like that’s all that was said.
Truth is, Pope was getting trashed in the game thread. Be honest.

Pope chose the roster (and I think it is great). If we don’t end up good, the fingers will correctly point to Pope and his staff. Last year, Pope was dealt a tough hand and reasonable people in the fanbase were understanding of that. This year, we should be back to Kentucky standards and I think that’s fair.I think alot of the criticism I've read this year is BS. However one thing I must agree with is the lack of athleticism and even grit of some of our inside players.Mo is tough but not quick, Garrison has some athleticism but he is not physical enough. Noah lacks quickness.Quite honestly I would like to see Moreno and Jelavick get alot more minutes.Williams still appears to be adjusting and looking for a role IMO so the jury is still out. Oweh , for whaytever reason is a liability right now. To me at least the biggest difference in game was when UL guards beat someone off the dribble we didn't have bigs quick enough or physical enough to close it down at the rim. When our guards did the same UL's bigs were quick and physical enough to get in position and close the drive down, either blocking the shot . causing a turnover or making us put up a bad contested shot.
To me at least the one issue Pope needed to solve from last year, more athleticism and physicality inside , has not been solved. Will JQ make up for this, I hope so? because if not we will struggle in SEC play.
Great post. 100% agreed. Pope deserves to be critisized, he certainly did get outcoached, but he earned a lot of street cred last year, but so many 'fans' were saying he "isn't worthy of being UK's coach", "he accomplished nothing last year" and "he won't last 2 more years". Unreal. We got out played, out coached, and out hustled. Point blank. Show my receipts. I’ll wait. Didn’t say any of that. Those who did were the same people who’ve always disliked Pope.Great post. 100% agreed. There are a ton of receipts in the game thread and once the cats got it under 10 in the 2nd half, some tried to act like they didn't say anything and now, they're calling others "too sensitive".
Can you give an example? Were there actually people saying Pope doesn’t deserve critisism? It’s pretty easy to discern the trolls, man. lol it’s almost like it’s exactly what it’s here for. It's a message board for sports not The American Journal of Medicine. Venting and overreacting (wins and losses) is par for the course.
The difference is Brown is a great player and is supposed to play like that. Butler had a top 5 all time UK performance in the UL game and was just an above average player.if Brown doesn't go nuclear does UL win that game?
*apologies to buc puppet, didn't see you had posted the same.
I agree with all of that. Can you give an example? Were there actually people saying Pope doesn’t deserve critisism?
That's crazy. Even Pope's mom would critisize him after that game.
What she WOULDN'T say though, is that he sucked last year, didn't accomplish anything and shouldn’t be coaching UK.
There’s a select few that would still be on this train of thought if we literally lost ever single game of the year. If Joker and Billy Clyde were in charge here there would be some that would back those two to the death. Absolutely astonishing train of thought from some. It’s gotten to a point where the only thing you’re allowed to say after a loss is how justifiable it is…or you aren’t a “real” fan.
So what? I don't agree with those things but on a message board people will always have opinions different from your own so I don't see the need to get so upset about it.Can you give an example? Were there actually people saying Pope doesn’t deserve critisism?

The OP is 100% right. Some of the things being said about Pope, are ridiculous. Just go leaf through the game thread, you'll see.I actually believe there’s been more constructive, intelligent discussions about this team’s +/- this season so far, compared to the old site.
With that said, does the OP expect a victory parade around here after a loss to a bitter rival, who clearly had the better team and coaching, and could have easily romped this UK team if not for a few key possessions going UK’s way?
