Six-year-old Lucas Abraham was born without fingers on his right hand. For years, he had asked for a "robo-hand" - a prosthetic device that could help him zip his jacket, hold a piece of paper or grip a baseball.

This week, after months of work by University of Louisville graduate students using 3-D printers and open-source designs, Lucas walked into first grade at Bowen Elementary School proudly wearing one of three new plastic "bionic" hands.

It has begun. It is probably because I have children, but this story made me weepy eyed. So excited for this kid.

In his best interest I would recommend using left hand only when he has to pee..I see major damage if he goes with the right...

But still awesome for the young lad

I'm just gonna go on a say it. That looks horrible. I mean how could you send your son out into the world with that? Sure it's functional but he's gonna have a hard time in school walking around with that thing. He can forget about girls too. It's just horrific looking.

Of course, I am talking about the kid's haircut. Hand is cool.
