And let's be a honest, the whole " cholly" thing comes off as making fun of someone's ability to speak, if not a smidge racist

Plenty of threads were posted on here about Cholly Weis when he was the coach at ND and Kansas.

Today I learned that Mr Weis is African American.

I was always under the impression that "Cholly" came from Charlie McClendon who coached LSU from 1962-1979. That's how I remember it.

After Coach Strong got hired here in Austin, I strongly supported the choice. In my opinion, all the tools were in place for success by year three, and at least a 9-3 record. As others have stated earlier in this thread, he is perhaps a poor fit for the job. If you look at the Horns roster, talent is definitely there.

Horns should still go bowling if they beat the Jayhawks next Saturday. But, yeah, I believe his days are numbered on the 40 Acres.
Very true.

He'll have offers flooding in position coach and/or DC at some top P5 or HC offers from lower tier P5s and mid majors.

See if he doesn't end up with Urban Meyer, or some "video coordinator" under Saban. Perhaps he'll link up with the Mad Hatter. That's what winning programs and coaches do.

If Strong is fired by Tx he will receive his salary (5M a year) until Jan 2019 as long as he stays unemployed. However, if he is employed, the payout drops to 2.5M a year.

A coordinator job paying a million a year, would thus cost him 1.5 mil a year. Will be interesting to see how much he want to be employed. Maybe he could take an unpaid position somewhere.

5-5 won't keep you employed at Texas..He should have stayed at uavel where Clint Hurtt's illegal recruits like Teddy B would have kept him winning..now it looks like he will be canned any day..Bye Bye Cholly..Find a school where your bedroom exploits are overlooked.[winking][winking][winking][winking]

Like most people, Charlie will fall victim to the peter principle. He'll drop back down and make someone a nice hire.

Strong will do fine. He'll do like a lot of other Coaches (like Orgeron or Kiffin)...He'll join a strong program as a coordinator or position Coach and build his name back up and get another shot at a high D1 program in a few years. It's not that uncommon. Even Muschamp is getting his second chance.

This is also the same poster who calls Lamar Jackson "Lamont" and who refers to U of L fans as living in the "west end" and using "food stamps" so I have no doubt there is a racial motivation behind "Cholly".

Maybe they don't make a move. Paying out 5 mill a year to cholly in addition to what ever the new coach gets may be just enough incentive to tough out another year or two and see if something doesn't break in Charlie's favor.

I mean the next guy is going to be at least a 6-7 mill a year guy, otherwise they might as well just keep charlie and tell him to overhaul his staff, because anyone that comes cheaper than that won't be worth it.

Right now there are about 5 guys worth more than 5/6 mill a year and they are all employed. Saban, Meyer, Kelly (maybe not for long), Harbaugh, Carroll...Petrino is very close to that group.

I'm not sold on Herman being the guy. His star is rising no doubt, but I don't know that he can turn it around as fast as the longhorns would demand. Very easy to wreck a mid major conference with a high octane offense and roster full of texas talent when you're by far the best coaching mind. Not so easy to walk in to a P5 where 4,5,6 other teams and coaches are just as good if not better.

Well, seems you might have something then.

There will be some marquee jobs that will be open.

LSU is already there. Texas could be close behind. The Auburn loss on Saturday really put Malzahn behind the 8 ball with a loss to the Bammers looming. Word now is Sumlin is on the hot seat and while he may be safe for now, Butch will he on a short leash going forward.

The irony of UK fans thinking Strong should be fired in year 3 for being 5-5. I'm shocked I'm not seeing any posts saying he needs 8-10 years and patience from the fan base.

Oh the irony of comparing the UK program (in football) to the Texas program.

Maybe you should stop and think before you post the next time.

Oh If you had only had your way, Joker would still be on the sidelines and everyone knows it.

Please don't attack those of us who have higher expectations than 5 or 6 wins per year. Does wanting and expecting more make me less of a fan? It was fans raising the bar of expectations that got the admin more serious about football in the first place. I believe the bar can go up a bit higher.

I've heard the rumors about Sumlin being on the hot seat through some of my A&M friends. Supposedly, he has a huge drinking problem which is becoming an issue.

I don't think a "huge drinking problem" is the issue.

Why are we so concerned about Charlie Strong? It has absolutely nothing to do with us. Lets just be concerned about beating UL and winning out bowl game. Worrying about Charlie Strong does not do anyone any good.

You seem to worry about us alot, so much that you take the time to pose as a UK fan.
