Terrible trolling attempt. Pathetic really
You expected anything else?

A true coach of the year will have to motivate this team to play through this tough loss, learn from it, and beat Maryland on Sunday. Nothing against what has been accomplished, thus far, as it is amazing. Blowing leads, like we have against IU and UofI are just another thing that a coach has has to teach and motivate his players to overcome.

In fact they did overcome it against IU. All projections prior to the game had us going 1-3 in the last 4 games. It's @#$%img hard to win on the road, and they were a missed FT by Big Matty from tying it back up at .52 and still could have tied at .05.

Maryland is playing pretty well and is tough at home. We will likely lose. It's ok. Beat Penn State and we will have our highest B1G win %...EVER.

I really wanted us to win the B1G, but don't let it detract from the success. They only thing that would really water it down would be to lose out (0-4 B1G, lose 1st BTT game, lose first round NCAA). That would leave a sour taste.

My personal gut feeling is that B1G COY is close to a lock. There are scenarios where Painter could win it. Or even Rutgers going undefeated the rest of the season while we lose 5 in a row. But it's unlikely. 90% chance CC gets it.

Nationally there's more volatility and scenarios of course. But there's a strong chance he will be in the conversation and that is remarkable. Others that come to mind:
1) Jeff Cappel
2) Jerome Tang
3) Randy Bennet
4) Buzz Williams
5) Ron Hunter

I'm sure there's more right now and others that can come into the picture with strong finishes.

Chris Jans.

Not sure why Collins is a lock over Painter. Either you had massively low expectations for Northwestern or higher expectations for Purdue than most. As someone else mentioned, Purdue was unranked to start the year and projected middle of the pack in the Big Ten and it looks like they could end up ranked in the top five, win the conference by multiple games, and be a 1 seed in the tournament.

Everyone has three games left and anything can happen. Nobody is a lock right now imo.

Agree nobody is a lock. But look at your "massively low expectations" comment. Coming off yet another disappointing season, losing our two big men, AD takes coach to the woodshed, and being picked 13th...frankly, I didn't see us winning a B1G game. Then, I expected Collins to be fired. So, yeah, massively low expectations

Massively low expectations would be optimistic for most of us to start this season. Collins has the Wildcats 12-13 spots above the board consensus. Purdue has the best player in the country and is always in contention for the top of the league. It's no knock on Painter, but most of us think what Collins has done this year is nothing short of parting the Red Sea.

Collins close to being a lock for COY!
He's such a breath of fresh air in the post game press conferences also. The difference between him after the game last night and the doofus from Illinois is striking. Collins gives all the credit to Illinois and how good they are while the Orange Tornado can only talk about how bad Illinois was in the first half physically and mentally and gives zero credit to NU. He has one of those faces that is so punchable.

...short of parting the orange and blue sea, but still 5 in a row, two against top 15 teams. Not shabby! I see them winning two of their last three, at least, if they get players besides Buie shooting well. I don't know who will be more difficult to beat--Penn state or Maryland. CCC has worked a miracle this year, and hope they continue to march. In March. Five steps forward, only one back.... March is named because that is when armies march, when you least expect them to. "Expect Offense!"

It is true that Purdue was picked about 5th in the Big Ten because they lost 3 of their top 4 scorers, including Jaden Ivey, who was a lottery pick. Edey split time with Trevion Williams.

So Painter started two freshmen in the backcourt and ran everything through Edey, who has improved dramatically. His biggest problem is that everybody knows he is a great coach, so the surprise factor is greatly reduced.

The debacle last night didn’t help CC for COY. Blowing an 18 point lead and expecting Buie to convert over and over on the clear-out was not a good look.

How about moving the ball for an open shot or a Boo drive and kick out for the game winning 3 pointer?

Expecting Buie to drive through 3 guys at the end of the game was not good. I don’t blame Boo for any of it, he played his *** off, the play was called from the bench.

We couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean. I will take my chances on a Boo drive all day long next to passing to a cold shooter from the 3 with a paw in his face.

Good comment. Painter has earned the benefit of the doubt from many of those who do the preseason forecasts so Purdue was likely picked a few spots above what they should have been coming into this year. To add to your points Purdue had to replace 62.8% of their points from last year, 46.4% of rebounds and 72.3% of assists. To do so and have a team ranked in the top 5 and be poised to win the Big Ten is pretty amazing. Especially when having to replace 3 starting guards and doing so with two true freshman.

None of that is intended as a slight to Collins. Northwestern has had a very good season and he deserves recognition for the vast improvement. Glad to see Barnhizer playing well, I believe I'd mentioned early on(2021) that your fans would need to be a little patient but that he would eventually develop. Congratulations on a good season so far.

Cold "shooters" ... plural. Hopefully, that's the ground floor for scoring by Audige, Beran and Berry for the rest of the season.

My personal instinct is that CC is still in the run for B1G COY. Painter and Willard being the other two.

For national COY is seems like a pipe dream to now think he stands a chance. From my limited perception of other conferences, Shaka Smart, Jeff Cappel and Jerome Tang are much stronger candidates.

Underwood is really good. You weren’t listening before and after the game. Underwood was very complimentary about Collins and Northwestern.

It’s all point of view. You hear what you want to hear.

You guys were wanting Collins canned before this season. An occasional good season doesn’t make him a great coach. Senior guards are key in this league. You are finishing games well for the most part. Before this year, all I read was what a bad end of game coach he was. He’s a candidate for BTCOY because he’s been so bad before this season. After more than a decade in the job, that’s on him.

He needs to stack seasons.

CC will be getting at least a 3 yr extension, and while that likely includes a nice raise, if I were CC, I'd ask for more $$ for the coaching staff.
Coach Lowry may have another head coaching gig after this year.

LOL. I don't hear what I want to hear. I was referring specifically to his post game press conference where it was all about what Illinois did bad in the first half and what they did well in the 2nd half. No credit to NU.

And for Collins I was specifically talking about how Collins handles press conferences after games. That hasn't changed the whole time he's been at NU. Always classy. Nothing about his coaching abilities over the years which have been questioned justifiably.

Looks like you're the one who hears what he wants to hear because your comments in this post are completely unrelated to what I said.

Oh, and by the way, welcome back you clown.

You know, between both of our teams, only one is still at risk of playing on Wednesday. Better hope you win tonight because I don't like your chances against Purdue on senior day.
