TCU AD. That is the rumor going around. I hope this is true. That guy is a stud. Which hires has he made at TCU? I know about the work that he did with stadiums, etc.

I would love it if he was able to bring the football coach with him, but let's be realistic. I think Chris would be someone to take a serious look at a young coach and would support the new coach where support is needed.

One of the top AD's in the country according to quite a few people...

Would be huge.

I hope it is true. Top 5 AD in the country. OU, OSU, and MSU have what is regarded as the top 3. Jeff Long at Arkansas is another big name in the business. So getting this guy, if true, is about as good as you can get.

I highly doubt it. He seems to have that athletic department rolling, so I'm not sure why he'd want to leave.

Plus he has to make a tough hire with the football program if he comes here. The hire better not be a dud. That's why I asked about his hiring record. I know he didn't hire the football or baseball coaches which are two of their most successful coaches at TCU.

He did hire Jamie Dixon for the basketball team which was a very good hire - but Dixon is a TCU alum, so that helped.

But I just don't see Del Conte leaving TCU considering he has very good coaches in place in all of the major sports there. If he came here, he has coaches on the hot seat in the major sports and will have difficult decisions to make. And if he doesn't hire Scott Frost, half the fan-base will hate him from the get-go.

Isn't he also being paid a pretty penny in Fort Worth... Would be tough for him to leave unless we throw boat loads of money at him to make these big hires..

Nope....he wasn't getting paid anywhere near what Nebraska is willing to pay. He was getting paid $695,769. Nebraska will be paying a million a year.

I have my doubts about this being real, but the longer it takes someone from TCU to go public to deny it as the rumors build (true or not true) there will be some sort of news soon.

Think link, based on TCU tax returns, says he is making $1.23 million in total compensation.

So yeah, I don't see him leaving TCU. I wouldn't be surprised if his agent is using us to get him another raise at TCU.

first thought when i heard the name, is there an interest in patterson...? probably makes too much for our admin taste, but he would probably be worth it.

How many would complain about Patterson? Always said he's a damn good Head Coach...

Interesting.

Patterson isn’t coming here. Not his fault he coaches in the clown car “one true champion” conference that produced 2 true champions which screwed him over.

And yes he is a good coach.

Chris just made some $$$

It was a rumor started to probably try and troll people. While the guy has done an impressive job, it was never a realistic option.

I suspect it ends up being someone like Ed Stewart or Danny White at UCF.

Might as well just hire the UCF AD and call it a day. He's proven he can hire good coaches and raise money from big boosters. What more do we really need? Our facilities are already top-notch, academics are first-rate, Big Ten money is about to roll in.

Yep...his dad is an AD, his brother is an AD, he is young so he will want to prove himself on a bigger stage, and he could bring Scott Frost with him.

His basketball hire has been good too.
