*sigh*

I wouldn't be shocked at all. In a billion dollar industry, trying to make it so that the people who do the real work see no money... that is guaranteed to fail. But we'll see.

You know, in the end this might go a long way to changing the entire model of how the NCAA operates. I just don't see them clobbering their entire lineup of elite and even not-so-elite schools.

And my guess is that the entire top 25 would have a record of 0-0 if everything came out.

Color me shocked that kids didn’t want to wear Nike’s or play for Coach K so bad that they were willing to for free instead of accepting thousands to wear Adidas

So what I'm reading is that a criminal, Dawkins, was caught saying that Duke had "people in place", whatever that means; another guy says what he thought that meant (with no proof), and on that basis the NCAA or any enforcement body is going to jump to conclusions?

What if I said "UNC had fake classes"? Will the NCAA do anything? I wish.

@LetsGoDuke301

Can you give us an update of what you know? I saw you posted more info on the national board, but that thread devolved into a KY UL pissing match so I quit reading. Also where are you getting your info?

Found this:

https://www.cbssports.com/college-b...to-recruit-zion-williamson-marvin-bagley/amp/

Indicates the testimony was that USC and Clemson were identified as making money offers to Bagley and Zion respectively. Innuendo that Duke, UNCheat, KY, and Syracuse pay players. The obvious problem is if Bagley and Zion turned down money from schools they didn’t attend, did Duke pay them more? Or did Nike do it w/out Duke’s knowledge?

I’ve edited the title of this thread. Discussion is fine but the previous thread title was just inviting trolls here.

I am going to look further into it later when I have time. So far I have just been scanning through this guy's posts.

The Bagley thing is pretty sketchy if we're being honest with ourselves. Looks like USC thought their offers had been finalized until he reclassed and committed to Duke. Kansas allegedly had an offer for Bagley too.

The ****** thing about it, is Bagley and Williamson are two of the most likeable kids to wear a Duke uniform. I'd just hate to find that they were tainted.

Testimony by someone who says he "understands" what someone else might have been saying constitutes nothing else but pure speculation about what that someone else intended his words to mean. That someone else could have meant something entirely different or could have been been lying, just blowing smoke up Blazer's ***, repeating something he himself "understood" others to say, exaggerating, trying to make himself look important, whatever. Moreover, Blazer does not state where this money could be coming from - whether from the university, an alumnus, or fan. Duke and UNC were probably thrown into the "understood" statement to show that "everyone is doing it." And since Blazer does not say the three mentioned schools actually paid anything or that a payment was actually made by someone else to benefit the schools, the testimony factually means nothing, except to all of you Chicken Littles who are fretting about it. Rest easy girls.

I have no idea how Zion's parents are, but Marvin's dad walks to the beat of a different drum.

Yes. As of now, it is just hearsay from someone who is speculating about what someone else meant. But you are willfully ignorant if you don't think there is something sketchy about Zion and Bagley getting offers from multiple schools but ended up at Duke. You can look at this with reason and not through the eyes of chick little at the same time. If Bagley and Williamson took money from anyone in return for committing to Duke, they were ineligible. Not sure what is so chicken little about that fact.

I dont care if we gave Zion 3 billion dollars and the deed to all the land of Duke U nothing will taint what he was for me

Glad Duke ponied up because Zion playing in that Brownwell system and possibly missing the tourney would have been an absolute travesty

Whatever you do don't share these sentiments on the Facebook group if you are a member. I was just booted for saying just this. They believe Duke knows everything a recruit or their family has done. I never insinuated the program was directly involved with Nike steering recruits.

I hope the word gets out that Duke pays really good money for the top players. We’ll have the top class every year from now until forever. Why are Princeton and Harvard at the top of the list in academics every year? It’s because every kid that goes there goes for free and they have a history of success.

Breaking News!!

Reverse scandal uncovered. Duke paid the NYG to take Daniel Jones #6 overall. Word was that Daniel really wanted to play his senior year at Duke, but Duke paid the Giants a fortune to take him earlier than he would have gone otherwise. Clearly, this makes up for all the basketball recruits we stole from other teams.

At this point this is a nothing burger with cheese.

Can't say I'll be absolutely shocked if in a few months it comes out Nike was steering guys to Duke, but at this point this is nothing more than guys blabbering.

I'll go back to focusing on next year starting....now.

What is Chicken Little about it is your lack of faith in our coaching staff, the culture of our team, and the thoroughness of Duke's vetting process. That Duke was directly, or even indirectly, involved in something as shady as bribing a kid or a kid's parents in order to insure that the kid comes to Duke has never entered my mind. I see nothing sketchy about those kids choosing to play for the GOAT and attending one of the best academic institutions in the world. Not like they are the only number one ranked highschoolers to ever come here. Ignoring those particular circumstances that apply to Duke and K is the height of ignorance. It won't be long before we see how this plays out and who is the real ignoramus. I'm not worried one bit.

Really hope this is not true. I'll assume it's not. This stuff can drive you crazy if you let it.

Lol. That's what is wrong with a lot of people. You think that even the slightest consideration of the idea that these kids or their families are getting paid, that you are admitting wrong doing by the program. It's not my lack of faith in Duke or the coaching staff. It is my lack of faith in human nature and the corruption of the recruiting process. At this point, the ignoramus is the one who thinks kids are free of any kind of wrongdoing simply because they went to Duke. I am with you, I want this all to be a big nothing. And in all honesty, it probably will end up with nothing happening, because the NCAA didn't even care enough to send a representative to the courtroom yesterday. They are taking a nothing to see here approach.
