Two of the best:

For Bible knowledge AND inspiration, R C Sproul. A preacher, he died a couple of years ago but his teachings can be found on youtube.

For Bible knowledge and Biblical background knowledge, Bruce Gore. A lay teacher whose classes are on youtube. Won't find anyone better.

I speak as a Bible College graduate and as a retired (poor) church pastor of many years.

Small town preachers are the salt of the earth. My moms preacher is paid 12 grand a year, a house to live in and a car to drive. He will do anything for anyone that asks. He thought putting his sermons on Facebook was too much. Those are the people you can learn from.

A church which I once served was severely underpaying me. Someone once suggested that the board do an anonymous survey of the average income of our lower- income, middle class congregation of about 150 people (and growing). They discovered that they were paying me $5000 a year less than the average wage of our congregation. They brought my salary up to the average the next year. My salary was never more than $24K ever (no house, no car, and yes, preachers pay taxes like everyone else). No preacher, unless he was a highly skilled con man, ever got rich doing it. And I never personally met a financially dishonest one. I have run across a couple of them who got caught being unfaithful to their wife but just a rare few.

For men like you it’s a calling. For others it’s a grift. My moms church has been reduced to less that 10 members from 60-75 at its peak. Mostly due to the ages of the members. But she can walk to it and the preacher has been good to her. He’s in his 60’s and once he retires I’m not sure it will stay open.

glad to see this topic here .. I normally would have a named one or two to throw out . But I haven't been reading/watching like I should for a while . I still attend church regularly but been going to several churches the past 2 years . Love crossroads in Cincy , Brian Tome does a series called garage bible study . Its not for everyone but some may like it . Cincy is 2 hours from me , cant get there all the time

Fulton Sheen and Gene Scott.

Seriously!

The first time I watched Gene Scott, I laughed.

Then one night he referenced a biblical/historic timeline and I was hooked.

Yeah, he was theatrical and such, but he was deep, and knowledgeable. And the music was great!

Though I’m from a charismatic Protestant background, Father Fulton Sheen was hard to beat.

My favorite is Keith Moore.

Dang, in this housing market who knew I should become a preacher to get a free house and car and 12k on top of my 100% remote Monday to Friday salary and job. I'm coming for this guys job.

Like Keith Moore too. Him, and others, make me wonder why they have a second (or third) church somewhere else? I can see if you spend half the year in one location and the other half in the other. Don't know if that's why Keith has the second church in Florida.

As for TV preachers/evangelists in general...like every other area of life, business, etc...some are good, some are bad. Some are legit...some are crooks.
Over the years I've known two national TV preachers. Both I would trust with anything I have. Salt of the earth...one perhaps a bit more than the other...but both very, very good people. In fact the one used to come over to the house quite often...wives were friends....and his kids were best friends with my kids (same age, same school). So, not all TV preachers are crooks looking for an easy buck.

Back in the eighties, a small TV station opened in or near Campbellsville, channel 34, which covered most of south-central Kentucky.

From midnight on they played Gene Scott for hours.

Was on a 2 year assignment with IBM in L.A. in mid 70s. He had his own local network there that competed with TBN. That’s how I got to know of him.

Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley is one of my favorites. Has humility and feel like he speaks directly to me. Polar opposite of the Dr. James David Manning who got banned from YouTube and received his degree from a school he created. Quite the character to say the least and one might say a real life Uncle Ruckus.

I was out of town on Easter, so went up the street to the local Disciples of Christ church (my denomination). From the outside, it was obviously not as big as the church I regularly attend, but it was eye opening to say the least. There could not have been more than 40 people (on Easter!!!) in attendance, and most were older than me, and I am in my early 60s. In a few years, I don't see how that Church will be around. It was pretty depressing TBH

Funny thing though, the young minister gave a really good sermon about the need and benefit of mourning, as the women were doing on Easter before they got to Jesus' tomb. And tomorrow I attend the funeral of one of my favorite uncles, so the topic resonated with me, and I am glad I attended.

We had two extremely full services, which they should always be considering the sheer number of folks who live within a mile of the church. It was great. Hope it will keep up in the coming weeks.

Easter is always special to our family, not only for the awesome reason of celebration, but it is one of the few times each year we get everyone together. We have been having Easter brunch at our house for years w/ 15-20 in attendance. This year, we cancelled and went to see Garth in Nashville and then to Monell's for Easter gluttony Sunday morning. It was fabulous, and I definitely asked forgiveness later...lol.

Have a great nephew who was hired by J P Morgan straight out of Ohio State this last year. He lives in Manhattan. Wanted to go to Easter service and decided to go St. Patrick's Cathedral (even though he is not Catholic) which is close to his apartment. Said you had to get tickets on-line.
