Thoughts on Christmas "specials"? The ones that are generally centered around one actor or musician. Any good ones?

I have two in the rotation, they are good to keep on in the background and you don't really have to pay attention. Mostly music anyways. Bill Murray's A Very Murray Christmas. Lots of cameos. His brand of off beat humor. Its kind of like what his character in Scrooged would have been after he changed his ways.

And the other is Kacey Musgraves.. in particular because shes got a great voice, and also because shes a stone cold fox.

Just watched Klaus on Netflix on a whim. Thats gotta be in the running for one of the best animated Christmas movies. I dont know if its because it came out right before COVID or what.. but it really flew under the radar it seems. It was near perfect.

I've heard nothing but great reviews of Klaus. I don't subscribe to Netflix but I might just for a month to watch this movie. It's almost impossible to find on DVD/Bluray too unless you purchase through questionable sources.

Yeah it really was fantastic. Its a great story/retelling of how Santa klaus came to be, and its likely going to make most people tear up at points.

One final Christmas movie. Disney's One Magic Christmas is really good and has flown under the radar. Harry Dean Stanton and Mary Steenburgen did a great job.

Never understood the whole Die Hard not being a Christmas movie thing yet it's something that persists every year. I think it's just said out of habit now. Granted, it was released in July but studios have a history of odd release schedules. The two Rob Zombie Halloween movies were released around August and It's a Wonderful Life in early January, after the holidays.

It's supposed to be around 68 degrees in Louisville on Christmas Day. Does that mean it's not Christmas here?
Count me as one who doesn’t consider Die Hard a Christmas movie either.

Is it because it's rated r for language, violence, and brief nudity? I mean, I know because of that it wouldn't be wise to show during a family get-together with kids around but besides it's rating, it takes place during a company Christmas party, there are decorations about, a scene involving a santa hat, a mom telling her child not to look for her presents, a couple Christmas songs, etc.

I see it as you have the very traditional Christmas films we can all name and enjoy, but then there are Christmas films for the action fan or horror fan too.
