Good riddance. The guy was boring in every way. Easily one of the worst to ever hold the main title. They also ruined the hottest angle by booking him to beat Punk just to flip flop with Cena for three months.
He was over in Lucha Underground. Leaves for the WWE and he crashes hard. I don't think the WWE cared at all about that guy. Maybe a statement by Vince he can stroll in and get who he wants when he wants. Prince Puma (Ricochet) will be signed by the WWE in a few months. Really curious how he will work out.

In reading a review of Takeover 2, I found the best praise of the Revival I've ever read.

"The Revival are simply on another plane of existence from any tag team working right now. It’s one thing to develop chemistry with your partner that allows you to perform tag team moves together. It’s another thing to develop your tag team selling so thoroughly that you can make anyone you face look like an absolute god. It takes a great team to develop both of those traits. But the Revival have grown right past that, and into some fairly uncharted territory at this point. They are NEVER OUT OF PLACE. EVER. Not even for a second. Every bump is taken exactly where and how it needs to be. Every interference is done with a knowledge of where the camera is to offer maximum surprise and milk the boos for all they’re worth. They have the power to convince you that they are genuinely going to lose multiple times within the same match. It’s a level of greatness that future teams should already be studying. Fundamentally, they are the best tag team in the world."

Pretty much. Every time I think Revival can't have a better match, they do. The match against Gargano and Ciampa was outstanding. Johnny and Tommaso are so good too. Johnny was doing that Bret Hart selling in his CWC match against TJ Perkins last week. Legit disappointed that he didn't win, but he honestly didn't need it.

* Can't decide if this is cool or lame: The NXT fans continued to sing Nakamura's theme song as they were exiting through the concourse at the Barclays Center.

Nash told Sports Illustrated his favorite opponent is AJ Styles. Nash haters will even tell you that he wrestled the biggest names ever and to say AJ is his best means a lot.

Undertaker and Bret Hart are also in his top 3.

Crazy

It is hard for me to take someone seriously who I would rank in the top 3 most political wrestler's of all time. HHH and Hulk Hogan being the other two.

He would pull an Eddie Guerrero to get back in the lime light.

This theme reminds me how much I miss Eddie Guerrero. I loved that move of clocking his opponent with a chair and then lying down and putting the chair on the guy he clocked and getting the other guy disqualified.

As much as WWE overly scripts everything I have a hard time believing Owens didn't know he was winning the title until they were in the ring, but I could be wrong.

So filed under random things I thought I would never see, turned on the WWE Network last night and there was Raven hosting a preview show about the new Hardcore Title DVD with Rob Van Dam and Mick Foley.

I've been watching a ton of 1998 WCW on the Network as the random .GIFs have told. I've really grown to appreciate Raven. That guy is a genius. Like a certified MENSA dude. His matches were always so psychologically sound. The feud he had with Chris Benoit and later DDP over the US Title were great, and he had THE greatest Goldberg match ever.

Then I read this about his WWE run:

"Raven and WWE creative came up with a storyline that would span months and involve the seven deadly sins of wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. He would punish various wrestlers on the WWE roster for breaking one of these sins and would culminate with a feud between him and Matt Hardy over Lita using the sins envy and lust. It was thought out, written and passed to Vince McMahon for approval and was subsequently rejected."

^Somebody really should try the seven deadly sins angle. It would work with the right people.

Also a certified member of MENSA: Kevin Nash. I have not enjoyed his 1998 work as much as Raven's. At some point in late 1997 he just stopped caring about anything. His work in 1997 was pretty awesome. 98? Nope.

I'd ask for everyone that cares to raise their hand but that'd be awkward.

Surprised WWE hasn't thrown him in a tag angle with his brother already. He needs to just wear the black pants, white button up, and red suspenders and go all IRS sometime. I think people would love it. Otherwise no one's ever gonna give a **** about anything he does. He's boring.
WHY ARENT YOU A BOLIEBER?!

Nah seriously. No one gives a **** about a curtain jerker who is as boring as watching paint dry. Wouldn't lose sleep if he got future endeavored.

still amazed he got away with blowing off showing up for the company's premier event they had been building to all year in '97, Starrcade

Even better, Dean Malenko was late to the show because his wife went into labor - fined substantially! Vanilla midgets, am I right?

Mark your calendars or something, the next NXT Takeover special will be on Saturday November 19, the night before the Survivor Series, from "Right Here in Toronto, Canada."

So Punk really thinks Vince is bankrolling in preparation for a lawsuit against him?
Sounds like he's trying to find a way to stay relevant in the media in case he loses his UFC fight.

CWC matches were great this week. One problem - Ibushi is Japanese for Cena.

I get it, but Spanky was ahead on points. Kota kicked out of a burning hammer?

He's fun to watch, but I'm already sick of his booking.

NJPW on AXS fans: Thoughts on JR and Barnett on commentary? Really like both, like the subdued tone, just want like 1 JR going crazy call moment per show. Barnett could use some flair (woo), but like his technical insight

I hate that it isn't live commentary, because it plays that way watching it too. It's like watching a basketball game on ESPN where they sometimes do the call from in-studio. The commentary loses something by not being there. I may be in the vast minority, but I have actually muted watching it a few times because Barnett reminds me too much of Matt Stryker, and I think it is some of the most unenthusiastic work I've heard JR do.

Yeeeaaaa...so what's a burning hammer?

If it's a finisher I take it we haven't watched wrestling for the last 15 years.
It's a legendary Japanese finisher invented by Kenta Kobashi in the 90s. It's so lethal he only did it 7 times in his career. A feud ender, if you will.

Kobashi didn't beat brain cancer to have somebody kick out of his murder finisher, even when he's not the one doing it.

No spoilers in the coming weeks please, but I still think they'll have Zack Sabre Jr. win the tournament. It's still WWE. A Japanese guy isn't winning a tournament.

I think SD has the better writers and it's the better show overall. But I like the fact on Raw they keep from Reigns and Rollins being pinned clean. Yet KO winning the title.

I just don't want them to say he couldn't do it without HHH help. Glad to see The Game back, but not to take the spotlight away from Owens. He's over on his own. Just like Orton at Summerslam in 2013, just like Rollins winning at WM in 2015, those 3 did not need help to win.

I think The Authority story-line helps in a way for Owens because he's new at this main event as champion, and lets hope they find a way of them doing it without HHH getting in KO's way.

HHH and Stephanie can help turn him into a draw without being the main point. Let Owens do what he does.

16 years ago today, RAW was on Labor Day and in Lexington. I was there.

It was the night Eddie accidentally beat Chyna for the IC title.

Re-watching it on the network last night, I was kind of amazed at how many people on the show were already dead.
- Test
- Eddie
- Chyna
- Chris Benoit
- Big Bossman
- Crash Holly

I was at that show as well...good times..

I am with you on the Ibushi thing, he is not going to sign with WWE right now so he shouldn't win.
I have said that a couple of times, big a huge fan of the tourney but not some of the finishes. It has kind of ventured into ROH territory where you have people kick out of 50 finishers then when the end comes it is like "that's it??"

I hadn't watch the CWC or NXT yet but I did last night to try to get the rage of that football game out of my system

Jack Gallagher has been my favorite, followed by Alexander.

I have assumed that Ibushi is signing.

Asuka and Nakamura laugh at the contention he won't win.

Did not know he had signed...I still don't want him to win.

So according to the WWE Network update page they are adding what they are calling "Hidden Gems" one of them they have listed is..

Tommy Rich vs. Buzz Sawyer- Last Battle of Atlanta

As far as I knew no video of this match ever existed, will have to check it out and see what it is.

I have assumed since day one that Ibushi-Sabre would be the final. Took the suspense out for me, but Damn the matches have been great.

dude... look at the intensity of these bumps, the selling, I mean my God. It's beautiful.

Of note: Bret's flat back bump off an atomic drop; Dynamite "actually" tripping over Bret after being shot into the ropes and selling like a boss; two hammer locks being broken by running to the ropes, stopping, and ducking; and two guys working snug as fug

So the story going around is Paul Ellering had the tape of the Last Battle of Atlanta. Can't wait until tomorrow to see what this thing looks like. Among old school wrestling fans this is the closest to a Holy Grail you will ever find.

Looking forward to seeing what happens on Raw tonight, interested to see Rollins and Owens, but I hope they don't put KO with The Authority.

Meh, it can be alright if they turn Rollins face, have him chase the belt, and have the authority keep throwing roadblocks at him. They just have to do it right.

Worst case scenario, with Stephanie and Trips looking at each other the way they did, you get Trips picking his face of the company in Owens, Stephanie with her pick in Rollins. And it becomes a lover's quarrel for the belt.

Underrated gem: One Night Only Taker vs Bret. The finish is ****, but you get to see Gerald Brisco almost get Joe Thurmaned by Taker
