I saw rumblings that some PSU wrestlers would compete in this. Now, it appears that will be the case.

I won't be around most of Sunday to track the progress of the event, so I'll leave that to others.

Looking in FloArena, the only PSUer I see registered is Cael Nasdeo, at 125. Whether others will also be entered remains to be seen.

The Clarion Open could be rather entertaining, in that a number of high school stars are entered, as are a number of college wrestlers.

Tom-do you hear any information on young wrestlers like Nasdeo who may not start in matches this year but we will need in future years? Thanks

Almost a big upset...Matt Ramos was leading Vinny Kilkeary 2-0 with short time in the 3rd. Kilkeary nearly takes Ramos down with less than 5 sec left, but Ramos turns it into a takedown of his own with 1 sec left and wins, 5-0.

Forrest just dominated Pitt's starting 125, Colton Camacho, 18-5. Camacho was 18-9 last year and placed 3rd in the ACC tournament.

Nasdeo loses 11-3

Cael Nasdeo faced Brayden Palmer in R1. Palmer is a college senior at UT-Chattanooga.

He'll face Markel Baker (soph at George Mason) in R1 of the Consolations. Baker had a pretty good season for Mason last year as a true fresh.

lol, PSU wrestling is like Fort Knox. Stories only leak out when they (the program) want them to leak out.

Forrest is definitely a MUST get. Kid is already elite. Hope Cael and staff are very close to Jax and family. Same thing with Bo Bassett and family.

Easy there Spykey. Forrest seems to be an under the radar recruit.(Not) Maybe you should send Cael an email so he knows to check him out.🙃🤣

Bassett in the semis against the 2 seed, would likely see Bouzakis in the finals. Bouzakis beat Hayden Cunningham 7-2.

We somehow scraped by without Snyder or Lee.

There are no MUST gets. We want Forrest but will be OK either way.
Be perfect for 133 but still don’t know how much he’ll grow. Only a Soph I believe.

Bo won the tournament. Beat a kid from Pitt in the finals that knocked out Bouzakis in the semis.

Marcus Blaze who knocked out Forrest beat Ramos 4-1 in the semis and then lost to Palmer in the finals.

Nasdeo lost to Markel Baker, 9-7, in the Consolation Round of 32, #2. As such, he went 0-2 in the tournament.

Brayden Palmer, who he lost to in R1, went on to win the Clarion Open at 125. As such, he (Cael) had a couple of pretty tough matchups.

125 turned out to be a really tough bracket. The top 6 placers were:

1. Brayden Palmer (UT - Chattanooga -- ranked #21 @ 125 by InterMat)
2. Marcus Blaze (high school -- he won Gold at the 2023 U-17 World Championships @ 55 kg)
3. Matt Ramos (Purdue -- ranked #1 @ 125 by InterMat and by Flo)
4. Nichola Babin (Columbia -- ranked #22 @ 125 by InterMat)
5. Jax Forrest (high school)
6. Gregory Diakomihalis (Cornell)

Wow. Congratulations Bo. So Jax Forrest lost to Blaze who beat Ramos. Nothing to feel bad about there. Thank you Tom and others who provided the update’s. Season is finally here.

So if Forrest is a must get, what does that make Blaze? He is only a hs junior.

He can definitely just on board too. PSU only gets better. Keep reloading the best program in the world. “Fact”

Nasdeo is taking a gap year before enrolling

thanks for the info. I thought that one of the freshmen 125 lbers. might do that. Nasdeo doesn't live too far from PSU (relatively speaking), so he could take a gap year and live at home, while working out with the NLWC.

Also, welcome to the board. And my compliments to you on the info you provided in your first post.

This is the Marcus Blaze - Matt Ramos semi at @ 125. The scramble in SV is worth the wait.
