* Plainfield South has been eliminated due to their upset loss tonight... this pretty much assures Maine South it will be in 8a.

* Glenbard West could possibly get bumped up because of Plainfield South loss and a potential loss by Bloom (4-4) Saturday. Bloom is on the points bubble.

* If Bloom doesn't make it, Glenbard West would most likely be a #20 seed and headed to Neuqua Valley. If Bloom makes it, they look to be a #32 seed.

* Looks like Palatine and HF will be tied with playoff points (40) and defeated opponent wins (40)... coin flip for the #3 seed?

My best guess tonight, with GW in 8a...

1. Loyola hosts 32 O'Fallon
2. Hinsdale Central hosts 31 Waubonsie Valley
3. HF or Pal hosts 30 Niles ND
4. HF or Pal hosts 29 Evanston
5. Oswego hosts 28 Joliet West
6. St. Charles E. hosts 27 Lockport
7. West Aurora hosts 26 Maine South
8. Brother Rice hosts 25 Fremd
9. Stevie hosts 24 Huntley
10. Barrington hosts 23 Leyden
11. Marist hosts 22 New Trier
12. Edwardsville hosts 21 OPRF
13. Neuqua Valley hosts 20 Glenbard West
14. Naper North hosts 19 Lyons
15. Taft (projected to win Sat.) hosts 18 LWE
16. Oswego East hosts 17 Curie

Forgive me, as I can't remember, are the seeding this in quads again? or a true 1-32. Seems like when they do quads it is unfair to the suburbs who end up playing great teams earlier, but 8A is stacked this year, so probably happens anyway

It is ridiculous to me that Br. Rice will fall all the way to 8 or 9 after playing a tough game versus nationally ranked Loyola and leading them going into the 4th quarter. They proved they are a top team in this state.

It has nothing to do with SOS. All based on record and playoff points.

Forgot to mention this in above post... If DGS loses today, Palatine could jump up to a #2 seed because HC and HF played DGS. Both need that point from a DGS victory. Don't think it will happen, however.

NN, how did you decide between New Trier and OPRF getting the 21/22 seeds. Is that a possible coin flip based on defeated opponent wins?

OPRF should pick up one more point today with the GBW vs. AT game, and move ahead of NT by one point 40-39.

Looks like your call on GW being 8A is correct. Soucie has them out of 7A brackets.

But you knew that because you worked the math. Thanks

According to my calculations MS and Lockport are switched.
Nice catch... corrected. Lockport lost two expected points last night when LWW and LWC were upset. As you pointed out, that moved MS above Lockport.

Another update... Barrington (#10) moves ahead of Marist (#11), 42-41 in points.

I think Soucie has 8A mixed up. Doesnt LWE have more points than NT,OPRF, LT and GBW?

LWE 45 points, GBW 42 points, LT 41 points, OPRF 40 points, New Trier 39 points per my math.

Yes. Forgot about the Glenbard West Saturday projected win. Doesn't Lyons win on Head-to-Head Tiebreaker though since it should be 42-24 for both teams? You're still correct though.

I think your 1st post is still correct NN. I think Saucie is off for sure. LWE is the top 7-2 seed and Eville is the 12 seed behind Marist.

Looking at updated points I think you have Edwardsville and Marist flipped, unless Marist will pick up points today. It shows Edw at 41 and Marist 40, unless I am reading it wrong.

Noticed that Soucie has Rich Central on both North (9) and South (13) sides of 5A bracket. Anyone have a guess as to which projected 5A qualifier is missing?

Marist gets another point today (SP vs. Wood Marian) to tie, then wins tiebreaker (DOW 33-32) over Eddie.

Naperville north looks to have a pretty good bracket for a deep run if they can get by round one and projected Lyons matchup.

Poor Glenbard North! They are set up to play East Saint Louis in round 2 if the projections hold. Too bad they couldn't get the 11seed as Batavia looks to have a good bracket set up for a pretty deep run in 7A.

Sorry scratch that for NN. I thought they would play Winner of Lockport/SCE in round two and that's not accurate - they would play Palatine in a round 2. Yikes! But that said - NN has a nice set of DBs against the passing of Palatine....

I love Soucie and all but what a dirty trick he pulled on GW. Posting a bracket with GW at #18 playing at Taft, then changing it back to your #20 seed playing NV was the ultimate Charlie Brown field goal pull back.

Ugh

Looks like the injuries that Neuqua avoided all season are coming at the wrong time.

Not looking for sympathy so much as venting but looking forward to a fun run.

Did NV lose guys last night or before last nights game?

One Linebacker didn't play last nite

It looked like they lost one RB to an elbow injury early in the game last nite and a receiver took a hard bounce off the turf late in the game (head hit and bounced off the turf - I'm guessing they making him go thru concussion protocols).

I watched the CSN re-broadcast earlier today ;)

Is edwardsville or Marist the better seed? In projection it has Marsit ahead of Edwardsville but on IHSA it has Edwardsville with more playoff points?

Marist gains a point today to tie Eville and then beats them with the tie breaker. Marist-11 seed and Eville -12

Well here's hoping they get healthy. You would hate to lose key guys for the playoffs.
