16 scholarship seniors, plus 2 (?) currently under the 85 limit takes us to 18.

B1G +3 takes us to 21, but we might be able to sign 18?

What 16 scholarship seniors? I only know if 12. If you are counting the walk ons that were awarded scholarships then you can't count the scholarships under 85 too. That would be counting those twice.

HOL scholarship distribution chart shows 16 senior's on scholarship and it also shows we're at 83 of 85.

16 + 19 + 16 + 15 + 17 = 83.

Have to save one for KJJ that drops it to 17.

Plus the tradition coalition is going to require the coach to keep a couple scholarships available for deserving walk ons, so even with the plus 3 you are just barely even at 18.

I could see NU processing some players to get the class even higher. Guys like Darlington, Brokop, King, Newell, Barnett, Gaylord, Neal, Snyder, etc. If NU wants to make the next level, they have to over sign and make the tough decision to cut dead weight.

So my initial response stands.

And @kaz36, Riley hasn't come close to processing like it's needed. I don't expect that to change for the 2018 class.

With the 4 year scholarship now guaranteed by the Big 10 can Nebraska really process anyone? I am sure Nebraska can say that you won't see the field and bury players on the depth chart.

Please correct if I am mistaken but if the student athletes are taking care of their academics and meeting their obligations by attending practice and putting forth effort etc...seems to me that Nebraska's hands could be tied if the player wants to simply stay.

I believe they can 'suggest' a transfer and 'help them find a landing spot.' This seams like a reasonable option for guys like Barnett and Neal who have a couples years left.

But yes, I don't think they can outright pull a scholarship.

If we're only recruiting 16-18 recruits per class, then we are literally playing with HALF as many recruits as the average SEC team. No wonder we're the 87th best team in the country.

The average SEC teams recruit anywhere from 32-36 players per cycle? Really?

Come on...
