Clear why Kendall sat for so long

It's really easy to see why Kendall couldn't sniff the field at OU. He just doesn't have; insert any thing you want here.

He has no touch, is inaccurate, no leadership, Eli-esque derp face and bad body language. I don't think many feel any kind of excitement or hope when he's behind center.

More of an indictment against the previous coaching staff's recruiting ability that he is the best WVU could field after Grier left.

I just hope this Doege or some high school recruit can come in and give us a lift at the QB position. I wouldn't waste eligibility on this season though.

I hope so as well. The pass blocking and WR drops/route running is certainly not doing Kendall any favors, but plenty of the poor play is at his feet.

WVU fans have been spoiled by 2 experienced back to back years with 5 NFL players on offense. It's a freshman loaded team.

Backup QB is always better according to fans. Until he gets in the game.

Spoiled or not, we can still see that he's never going to be the answer. I appreciate his efforts but if he's the starter then the answer for our QB woes is not on the roster. This is the biggest difference between NB's first year and Rich Rod's first year.

Just as a reality check, Will Grier would not have seen the field behind Baker Mayfield or Kyler Murray either. I don't know about Jalen Hurd.

ETA: For that matter, since Mayfield and Murray were both #1 overall picks, there may not be a QB in WVU history that would have seen the field in a program with those two. Kendall may or not be A big problem but he is definitely not THE big problem.

2 Heisman trophy winners could be a reason. I don't have any kind of excitement or hope when the OL continues to get blown away. A good run game helps an average or below avg QB. A QB that is great with great WR has the ability to cover up a lot of problems of an OL or bad run game. But that still doesn't guarantee wins. See the 8-5 record last year for example.

So, you think the Oklahoma receivers were dropping his passes too?

You put Kendall with last year's team and we probably have a different outlook about him. While he's not even close to being a Grier, he's probably way more consistent with the better all-around talent we had last year compared to now.

Still, he looks like what he is, a first year QB (on the field) and makes the mistakes those types of QB's make - rushing throws, locking in on one receiver, etc. Next year, if he's still the starter (big if), will tell us if he's more like a Geno or more like a Howard.

Backup was a 4 star stud. When they don’t pan out it hurts because it’s hard to recruit if a high school kid knows Grier has 2 years and a stud 4 star is in the wings. Can create a void and sucks when the kid after Grier doesn’t pan out.

Yes he is. Lol. I argued to give the guy a chance...but eight games in is enough. Line has given up only one sack. Too much ragging on the OL. AK is a no go. Guy is a statue with a weak arm and lack of command. Time for Doege or Lowe to get a chance.

Poor passes, Dropped Balls and piss poor OL that should have at least gotten a little better by now. Complete some passes will drop those defenders back and even a poor OL could open some holes every once in a while. This team is not 1 dimensional it's zero dimensional. Sure there is improvement but it's so small you can't really see it unless you know football. Unlike Bucky who knows nothing.

Don't fully agree here.

We have ZERO run game. Pass protection is pretty good but that run game is atrocious. We're just too young and weak in the middle there so that isn't going to change until next year at the earliest.

As a result, we're constantly playing behind the sticks and we're asking Kendall to bail us out of 3rd and longs too many times. Hard to do this 6 or 7 times in a row while trying to drive down the field. The percentages just don't favor it - no matter who the QB is.

Fully agree Kendall does have something wrong with his arm. He has no zip on his throws. His spirals aren't tight. Has no deep throw at all. Maybe it'll be something they'll clue us in on after the season's over. Wouldn't be surprised to see him getting surgery on it.

Have no problem playing Doege to see what he has. Just one real problem. If you play him Saturday and you win, do you keep playing him to get bowl eligible? If you do, you've lost him for the bowl game. If you don't, you can gamble you win the next 3 after and get him for the bowl game.
