Family home is in KM but mom worked for school system in Shelby. Both parents were KM grads. Should have been at KM anyway.
Just thinking out loud. Shelby went 0-3 in the county last season. Last year coming into the season most Shelby fans thought the Golden Lions would be unbeatable. Coming into this season Shelby appears to be the underdog in all three county matchups. Is it possible that Shelby may not win another County game until Fall 2024?

Coach Lloyd is a good coach and better man. Starmount is lucky to have him.
I don't know if we will or we won't but I know a couple of things. If Southwest Onslow played in Cleveland County. They'd get beat-down. Crest has a good football team. Kings Mountain has a very good football tem. Burns has a good football team and Shelby is freaking Shelby.So Crest don't win states this year. Is that underachieving ?? Hype trainserious in CC.....
That's why you are on a thread that is named Cleveland County. Onsolow County and by proxy Southwest Onslow is ROMPER ROOM football. You can prove it. Go start a thread and name it Onslow County and you and the 3 people that show up to it can discuss it.

The answer is yes.... I would assume for all four schools but since you seem to only focus on Crest I know the answer is yes because it's the answer every year even when yes is an unrealistic answer.

I think everyone should be so excited!!! I like it!!! If every county took it this serious imagine how good football would be! So just because it's exciting doesn't have to be hype... only 1 school is gonna win it all everyone else should be upset! I saw 2 Crest games last year they looked terrible early vs Shelby and won. Against Statesville it looked like a different team. I do know 3A could be the most competitive classification so under achieving would be a early round loss. Can not wait for August! Gaffney at Crest is definitely on the must see list! Gonna be fun to pick the game of the week to see! Gonna hit those local restaurants and soak it all in!!! Best time of the year!

I would enjoy another state title. For sure. We have a good chance too. Underachieving was the word used. We did that in the last coach’s era. We should be very competitive! And we should be excited and hype with what we have right now. The season is a summer away. Have to play the games though. I do think the other 3 schools have chips on their shoulders now bc they know too.

KM is 10-4 versus the county.
Shelby is 7-7 versus the county.(4 of those county losses coming last season). 2 state titles
Crest is 6-8 versus the county.
Burns is 5-9 versus the county.( 3 of those wins coming last season).
I think that moving forward that you will see the pendulum of power swing around from one county school to the next over the next five years. No more one or two team dominance for long stretches in the county. I believe the next 2-3yrs in the county will be Crest and KM battling in out for top dog with Shelby rising back up if it can keep their young talent in their pipeline. Crest has a lot of talent in their rising freshman and sophomore class. Shelby has a talented rising freshman class in the pipeline. KM has a lot of talent in their rising sophomore class. Currently not sure what Burns has in pipeline from 9th grade down but I am sure they will have something.
