Lol. Shelby fans will be referencing the past a lot moving forward because the immediate future isn’t going to be pretty for you guys in Cleveland County. It’s highly possible that y’all may go 0 for the county again. That aside I have tremendous respect for the Golden Lions program but Shelby fans are about to go through some things lol.

At least we are drug out of the playoffs. Also we never lost 42-0 in the playoffs in those 100yrs. We at least try to fight back. The real “true dynasty” in high school football just assumed the doggie style position for Burns last season in the playoffs lol.

Yep. I respect the fact that they won but when you can advance to the 2A western finals with one arm tied behind your back it takes a lot of bass out of their voice when boasting about it. Please do not get me started on their conference schedule. Playing in that conference will be the death of the one true dynasty. Shelby definitely should have petitioned to move up or just move to another conference in my opinion.

I don’t think anyone of us are saying that 2A doesn’t have tough teams. You just do not usually have to play multiple tough games back to back to back. Also you can win with you ‘B’ game in 90% of your conference games. Say what you want about the Big South but you cannot simply just show up at somewhere like an Ashbrook and just out athlete them or not be ready to play. That’s the difference.
Here's the thing though, We were there in 3a, did to most of them exactly what we've done to the majority of the teams we've played in 2a... Thats not being a bragger,its fact... We rolled up into Ashbrook (since you chose them) several times and boot stomped them like the rest of the Big South teams we used to play, and would feel sure more times than not, we would in today's times as well
We will have the occasional bad year by our standards (see last year) but we all know Shelby doesn't stay down long...We will be back stronger, sooner than later..

I agree that Shelby WILL NOT stay down long. I do. However, what has happened is the rest of us have upped the ante. It's not a one team show anymore. Just being Shelby will not get it done in Cleveland County anymore. Shelby has set the standard. Anyone claiming otherwise is a fool. It's been around way to long and it's way to proud to ever fold up. I pick and I talk trash but I have respect for it.

I played against Shelby when they were 3A. I played against this those Shelby teams that won two titles and lost the 3rd to Burlington Cummings. Shelby was good no doubt. Shelby was winning but there wasn’t any curb stomping going on in the old Southwestern 3A. Almost every game was competitive. During that time Ashbrook and Huss were 4A and very strong 4A’s at that. Powerhouses if you want to be honest. Shelby at 3A were winning but they definitely wasn’t blowing out Huss nor the Brook at that time. Huss and Shelby actually tied 0-0 during the second Shelby 3A title run because we played Huss exactly a week after that tie game. If Shelby blew out Ashbrook then it had to be sometime after Shelby went 2A because it definitely wasn’t happening during the Shelby 3A years.

You brought up the title years: Those years everyone and their momma knew with Shelby you were getting Cedric , Cedric, Tony or Dunsey and the occasional Option with Therome.... We lined it up and ran it every single play
So there were MUCH fewer opportunities on offense compared to todays offenses, not to mention the powewrhouse Old Southwestern 3a and the two Powerhouse 4a teams mentioned above.... So yes there were a bunch of "Curb stompings" even in 3a by a strictly running offense that may have had 8 offensive possession a game....... and boot stomped the huss 4a powerhouse team as you called them...
I will say you were right about Ashbrook, we didnt start playing them *again* until we went 2a about 2005 or around there and they did in fact beat us a few times...

On another note, I went back to page one on this thread and started perusing and I have to say this is probably the best thread ever on these boards
I have been giggling like a ten year old (matching my mentality) reading through some of this stuff....
I hope we keep it going through the season but when we beat Kings Mountain and Crest they all will disappear
and Burns they dont care anymore, their year was supposed to be last year and they choked so they're done on the boards basically cept Nelson, he will chime in occasionally...
