I agree that Crest is loaded this year and barring injury Crest and KM will both be 9 and 0 when they play the last game. But there are some positives over here. JV's are 2 and 0 against two perennial 3a powers. There is some surprise news coming and some positives from the middle school team. With that said John Crest has not won a third rd game in 7 years and Shelby has won 4 State Championships in those 7 years.

Crest does recruit though. Put that offense out on the field and these boys think what it would be like to be in the program. Can’t blame them.
Talked with a former assistant coach of Crest head man from years back right after they made that hire. He said kids love playing for him because he has a fun offense and they would get people looking at transferring there after seeing how he lights up the score board.

That aside here’s what I see as the year progresses for Cleveland County
Km : no offense 18 ain’t the answer they won’t win it all just on the defense alone round 3 or 4 tops
Crest : they have zero defense don’t care what they say they lose late in playoffs but someone will have to score as sausage says 40 the offense will take crest a long way but a Dudley type team sends them home maybe even South Point
Burns no defense also and no depth round 3 or 4 tops
Shelby : round two tops another bad season by our standards probably Ofer in county again more like probably.. just calling it like I see it

Possible Crest gets their leading tackler back before seasons end from injury. Porter would be a huge boost for the D. Crest defense has seen 2 pretty good offenses so far (Gaffney tossed 60 plus on the board last night).
I agree and disagree on Crest defense. While we’ve had trouble, we do clean it up and get the stops we need. But it is a hard defense to learn and I think our guys will learn it by the end of regular season. I think that’s one of the issues now.
I don't have a problem with your analysis, but it's an analysis for right now. You have no idea how KM offense or Crest and Burns defense will develop by November. Some teams get better and better, some are as good now as they're going to be. A lot happens in 2 months, physically and mentally when you're dealing with 15-18 year old kids.
True indeed but I’ve seen what we all have out there and I stand by it . Not a team in this county winning it all with the weaknesses we all have on one side of the ball or in some cases both sides of the ball and special teams

Guess cause Crest wasn't doing much while Shelby was winning 7 of the last 10 state championships. But now you're back.... full bore. Congrats.... good for you. I love your team...literally. I've known most of them since they were in kindergarten as my kids have gone to school with them. I'm proud of them. Some really good kids.

Dedication was done several weeks ago. It was a great event. My brother gave an eloquent speech. He's hard at work designing your new press box and it's gonna be really nice. He was telling me about it last week. Something you'll be proud of.... just like that auditorium he designed for you. Shelby does have the best field house in the state of North Carolina. Trophy room is the best in the state with all those titles on the wall. I'm proud of it.

DC got a lot of moving parts in that front 7 I think we will get a lot better as season goes on..as well Burns Defense and Shelbys will also it’s really early in the season
Not a burns fan, I’m not even originally from around here and didn’t go to high school here. Love reading this stuff and chiming in from time to time. Have friends at all the local schools and here a lot of chatter off this as well. I lean burns because their fans seem to be less arrogant than crest and Shelby. I usually choose a good game to each week and go to that one, sometimes just watch it on YouTube.
Folks seem to get a little bent out of shape on here too quickly, as if someone is attacking them personally.
