You're not catching the drift bro... It is already settled... That's the word........ And the word should be good.. .
I know everyone was talking about Lloyd being the bridge for the DC to take over when he left to go to Crest. Is that still the plan, keeping it in the current stable? Shutdown, I believe, is talking about someone coming back from a previous stable from the same grounds.

It’s plain as day if you can see the last two posts. I will not say the name because it’s simply not my news to share. But the picture I posted this morning should help clarify things.

This went national.

This national article did it.

GAME OVER

The Shelby Golden Lions are nationally ranked as the state’s winningest program.

Shelby just had the biggest Championship Title Game victory in North Carolina history.

Shelby has at least one State Championship in each of the last seven decades. Most decades with multiple Titles.

The Golden Lions have multiple Title Game appearances in each of the last seven decades.

I didn't realize, it was former Burns principal and Crest QB, Chris Blanton that presented Crest their championship trophy. He is now assistant superintendent in Watauga. Cleveland County roots run deep.
I saw that too. I knew he moved up over the years. There are people at Burns that are not a fan because of he and a former coach clashing but I go by what I know of the individual. Blanton was always good to me and held people accountable. I will leave it at that. I am glad he has achieved what he has in his career.

Yeah it’s pretty close. Thought Crest might tie at one point years ago and Shelby ripped off a 4 out of 5 years run. Guess that is how rivalries work.

As far as the Shelby vs Crest record......Shelby played football for 50 years before Crest was even a school. Those farmer boys at Crest (Boiling Springs), Lattimore, and No. 3 High Schools didn't know which end of a football to hold. A true record of the rivalry should start with the 1979 Crest win and go from there. (Crest actually won in overtime in mid 70s, but it was counted as a tie.)

I believe it is something like 30-26-1. Shelby leads but Crest has really closed the gap over the last 25 years. I think it is like 9-16 over the last 25 years.

Our data shows they have played every year since 1968 except for Covid spring 2020-2021. 57 meetings.
Correct at 30-26-1.

We are not sure at which years, but Crest grew into playing in higher classifications, all the way to 4A in the 1990s then back to 3A.
Shelby dropped from 3A to 2A entering the 1997 season. And stayed there.

The Golden Lions won ( with 2A numbers )
3 of the 5 years surrounding Crest’s 94 and 96 4A State Championships.

In substantially more of the 57 meetings, Crest was playing at a higher classification than Shelby, yet Shelby still leads.
Crest was never at a lower classification than Shelby.

Shelby now has 20 State Championships Titles.
Crest has 7 now.

You can understand why they hate us.
Still, easily the BEST RIVALRY in the state based on accomplishments.

The new incoming Crest coach will be told that there is only one thing that is most important for his job security.
True story.

You can figure that one out.

What’s the overall record between Crest and Shelby?
You see what you get for asking a simple question? You get Doc Brown bloviating a bunch of nonsense no one even asked., I'm going to leave his picture below so it'll help you identify him in case you come down for a game and need to make sure you don't run into him..

Congrats to Crest on winning another Title.
Special congrats to Coach Lloyd. So happy for him and thanks for his giving to the youth of Cleveland County.
These county coaches deserve all our praise. They make a significant difference in these young men’s lives and sacrifice so much of their time.

rulz, we have no need to waste any more time with you and your silly windmill crusade to diminish The True Dynasty of North Carolina High School Football and certainly, Cleveland County.

Shelby just won its 20th State Championship Title.
Crest is not even close.

Crest has 30% more students than Shelby.
You are supposed to beat us.
That is why classification exist.
And that is part of the reason we play you.
You take such obsessive glee in defeating a program smaller than yours.
Yet we still have beaten you more than you have beaten us.

We understand and see through your manufactured challenge to the Golden Lions.
It is what led you to start this thread in the first place.
Feed off the publicity Shelby has brought to the county for decades, throw in a few good years for Crest, and note Burns and KM as perennial quality teams
Interesting thread.
But fully dependent on the reputation of the Golden Lions for its origin and continued popularity.

And for those of you firing the cheap personal shots at us for setting the record straight with true, factual information, we really do not care what you think.
You just expose yourselves as jealous, and ignorant.

Why is Crest academic ranking among public schools so much more higher than Shelby and ya'll are under the same management?
