I definitely don’t think they will be as good as the team they had last year (which was very good). However I don’t think they fall all the way down to the bottom of your conference. They still have the players to be closer to the top than to the bottom. There will still be a huge gap between the top 4 (which they will be in) and the bottom 3.
Trust me. Crest is going to punish them.

If we are honest Crest was the better team , they got us but anyone there knows Crest should have won. Play that game 10 times Crest wins 9
Storm this is a 3 team race for conference Crest , KM and The Midgets period. The wave is a really distant fourth , Huss may take the fourth spot for all we know.

And I can tell you for a fact the returning Crest players have that game circled

They have some good young talent but Huss returns enough where that game isn’t a gimme. Huss has several kids who can play with anyone. Depth as usual will be their concern but Ashbrook will not roll through them. This year it’s the three at the top then a gap, Ashbrook or Huss then another gap. Ashbrook did add the best GC middle school player but they shouldn’t put that pressure on him yet. AJ will keep them in some games but he may be running for his life a lot this year.

I agree 1000%. I didn’t think there was anyway you guys would lose that game last year. I also think you guys were the better team last year and this year. I am just saying there is a huge gap between Ashbrook and the bottom 3.

Sounds like we both keep up a lot with Gaston County. I still think the gap is pretty large between Ashbrook and Huss, but I respect your opinion. The Batman will be a great player for Ashbrook but asking a 9th grader to be huge contributor is a big ask, I’m sure you guys are the first to understand that. Again you might be right and I might be wrong. I just think Ashbrook is closer to the bottom half of the top 3 than the top half of the bottom 3.

That Shelby vs Lincolnton game will be a great game. The whole county will be good this year. To many people sleeping on Burns as well, Max Davis and a great O-line returning and Coach Devine will have that defense firing on all cylinders should be a great year for Cleveland County football with all teams making a deep push in the playoffs.

Not only will those Infidels punish the gummie bear greenwave, but the vast majority of the Crest fan base will punish the bleachers when they waddle their wide load hide ends down from ordering the ten hot dogs, fries and sundrop from the concession stand... Then again the grease from the hot dogs may act as a lubricant, easing the transition from standing to beaching upon the aforementioned bleachers

Either way two things are getting smashed, the greenies and the bleachers

I know that Ashbrook has some decent young talent to work with and should see some dividends next year with that. I agree the 9th grader will be a good one but he needs to hit that weight room first before he is a thrown out there with the big boys. One of the reasons that NG was unable to field a jv is because so many of those jv kids moved to Ashbrook. Do not sleep on Huss, they have some pieces to work with but I definitely believe that Ashbrook has the coaching advantage over them. Gaston County is interesting to me right now. A lot of things happening.

I have seen a lot of the Huss kids when they were at SW and YC in middle school. They have some senior talent on that team. NG, FV, and EG are in shambles right now. I only say those 3 and not CV, BC and HT because the first 3 have had some success over the last 5-6 years (at times).

Honestly the 9th grader at Ashbrook should come to Cramer and play with our young QB, and TE who are sophomores. They could be a very dynamic trio for the next few years. Not sure who Ashbrook has to replace AJ, but I have heard it is a big drop off.

Ashbrook will lean heavily on the RB and QB but they really need them both on defense also but that probably want happen

Game is at Crest this year. So we won't get to explore all the old beat up football equipment and everything else rusting behind the Ashbrook bleachers.

It was talks online that he should come to KM. I think if the family evaluates the Ashbrook oline after his freshman year and see the huge line he could be running behind in KM those last 3 years plus, that could be a draw west. Super bonus when you add in the amount of coaches that will be at the school to see the 3 freshmen that already have offers. I expect there to be a total of 5 or 6 freshmen to have offers this year.

Will be interesting and fun to see how all the young men progress. I was speaking from a proximity standpoint too. We get some Holbrook kids every year. Pless who is now at SP came from Holbrook, and Holland (all time leading scorer in NC women’s basketball) also came from Holbrook.

There definitely was some interest by the family I will say that. Ashbrook definitely fought to get him. He would have had the opportunity to join a phenomenal freshmen class in KM if he would have joined. Ashbrook not a bad spot for him though.
Speaking of freshmen, so many of these kids and their parents want to play varsity and play right away not understanding how big of a jump that is. Very few are ready right away at the bigger more competitive schools. You are not the biggest, strongest, and fastest on the field anymore when you move to high school varsity. Although some freshmen have bright high school football futures, I wish more parents, kids, and those pushing for them to play understood how hard it actually is to be a contributor immediately.

Huge difference between a talented 15 year old and a talented 18 year old, from physically to maturity.

Huge difference. Easy to go from looking all world in 7v7 or drills with no pads to getting tossed around like some water bottles on a hot day.
I’m always glad to hear when team chemistry is solid in a 7v7. Great to hear that qb and receivers have gotten their timing down better. I do not care about much more than that. How does that QB look with a DL or LB on him? How does the QB look after getting popped one time? It changes everything when the whistle blows for real.

Hey at least we have wide load hind ends to fill the home side , aluminum jungle at Shelby
It’s hind end SL the hide end you speak of is when we go 5-0 on y’all’s kitten hind end
