I would imagine there is no chance this happens in CC. Those coaches are going to get in every second of practice time. LOL
Burns has been doing film and then practicing late. I remember calling our old practice field "Hells half acre" when I was there and we were convinced Ron Greene had an invisible bubble over it that prevented clouds and rain. I do not remember one practice or game that got moved or held off from weather. When the heat index was high we went "Light" which was helmets and shoulder pads. lol Now I hear that is the standard for most practices during the year in high school.

The regulations are definitely different now. At the same time, they take kids health much more serious because player safety is way more of a priority than it used to be. I wonder how many concussions we all had back then before it was a thing? Had my bell rang many times over the years. I get the focus on it but things are much more strict. I never heard anything about a wet bulb temp until last week. Do it right, do it light. Do it wrong, do it long.

Despite how I feel about the team build, culture and overall state of Crest's program and surrounding area....what you said isn't harped on enough....historically speaking. Yall beat EL, SP and Hickory on the road in playofffs and then won the championship easily. That was a huge run by a great team.

Burns did about the same. I think they did film until 5 and then practiced from 5ish until 7 or 8. Monday they did not get out of practice until 8:15pm. lol

Of course the larger cities counties such as Mecklenberg and Wake produce more D1 recruits, but that is a function of total population and number of schools.
On a per capita basis, with 4 medium size high schools, Cleveland County may match them.
But that is not the metric we choose.
Our metric is rings, not D1 college recruits. Championships. Proven performances over a significant time by the high school programs in that county.
That means the most to most of the participants.

In developing high school football talent to a championship level within a team concept, it includes not only players, but coaches, facilities, community support and tradition.

If you are to criticize us as “ ludicrous “, please name for us, other than Cleveland County, any NC county that has produced from its high schools, 26 State Championships, additional multiple (10) Championship Game appearances, and consistent Top 10 rankings and deep playoff runs for over the last 6 decades.

Do the homework, DeBoar.

Gaston County logic: Cancel a 6pm high school jamboree at 4p (92 degrees) with 15y-18y olds because temps are above 88 degrees. Gaston County middle school football teams (11y-13y) played today at 4pm when temperatures are 98 degrees. I guess it makes perfect sense to someone on that side

OK. But you said "most talented". That has nothing to do with rings, cheating or anything else CC has become so good at. Very talented - yes. But you didn't say per capita (still wouldn't be right). Ya'll aint Rock Hill. In the last 5 years.....go schedule a big time private. PD or Ch Christian. They recruit too. You will get to see how that talent looks. Kudos KM for putting that one 7-5 Ch. Catholic team on the schedule. Ya'll are still 0-3 lifetime vs. them. They recruit, too.

Call a spade a spade. Shelby hasn't been "SHELBY" since about 2019. Burns has had those 7-8 years of really good football teams the last 45-50 years. KM.......super bowl champs every year in early August. 7-8 Win team every November. Nobody gets clowned more than the overzealous parents/hype mongers of the greater KM/western GACO area who send their kids to KM. 100 years of talking and 0 years of payoff. Crest has recruited the best and combined it with good coaching, community support, etc so they've been the class of CC the last 15 years. I'm not wrong.
