Like an Aerosmith tune, for Burns its the same old story, same old song and dance my friend. Ive heard the hype over and over through the years. People saying, Oh this is gonna be Burns year, the future is bright at Burns, Burns gonna be dangerous come playoff time. But it never seems to materialize. I will go ahead and make my prediction for the season now. Cue up the Aerosmith in your brains now. Here we go: Burns will win the games they are supposed to win, again. Burns will lose to KM and Shelby, again. Burns will get put out of the playoffs in the second or third round, again. Meanwhile, Crest and Shelby will make deep playoff runs, again. If they make it to the title game they will win it, again. Burns will be left having to look up to their Cleveland County brethren, again.
At what point and time are you going to go and show them how to do it?
A battle for 3 3/4 of the game and all of a sudden we’re doomed. The game was a solid battle until the last 6 min. We get the QB position settled and we’re fine.
I didn’t have pads on like they did and it was miserable when the sun was out. Cannot imagine how they felt out there.

I thought we got away with one big time. When Thompson got his feet tangled during the contact and the ref treated it like he just tripped himself. He had a clear view and kept the flag in his pocket which surprised the crap out of me.

Don’t know what team you was watching last year, but Grier had about 25 touchbacks during the season. He had an outstanding year as a kicker. Don’t recall him kicking any balls directly out of bounds last season.

Both offenses will figure it out. The offensive for Burns looked very stagnant. QB didn’t do a good job of following his blocks and I feel they went to him too many times and it seemed he went backwards more than he didn’t. Biggest question was why didn’t they feed the RB for burns more??
It was a great game and the heat was miserable. I thought Bralley showed he could hold his own out there. Close game that allowed Crest to pull away late. Heat killed us late in the game. Kids cramping all over for both teams but I don’t think we could afford it. Mental mistakes late will get you in a close one. We got a heck of a start to the season and I think we will be just fine. We got blew off the field last year but I think we will be good as it progresses.
As far as Max. I don’t think they want to overwork him like last year. He missed a lot of time with his foot. Crest was prepared to stop him and did a good job but I would have liked to see more of him as well. We need him long term though.
Be bombed them out of the end zone all last year.
Enjoyed the game today. Both defenses looked strong. I’m sure both offenses will figure it out. Tough these days with fewer practices and scrimmages. Good luck to both teams on the rest of the season.
Side note (and I already know that no one cares about opinions) I didn’t like the Crest uniforms and my son loved them. 50 year old vs 17 year old.

Max has to have help. They couldn’t run him 25 times in that heat. He stays on the field too.
Burns was a little gassed in the end. Can’t judge any team on the first game.
Crest has work to do on offense. But they have some pieces. KJ has a good arm. The mental is the key there. IMO. Still , work to do.

Those are the Jordan Brand uniforms that NIKE gave them. They only wear them a couple of times.
I think we know the answer to the QB problem ,it's just a matter of time. Case has a cannon and I really don't think he looked intimidated to be out there either like most freshman would, especially against a defense like Crest. Why didn’t you congratulate Crest for coming to Hickory and winning last year?
If it is free it is for me…I just didn’t like the Oregon green, but again I’m sure a lot of people did.

both defenses are really good , Burns needs to pull the trigger and put Bralley at qb. Wells could be weapon at another position. Bralley needs the in game reps , Birns will be a force as season goes on
Only thing I question was the usage or lack there of for Davis. Limit his carries against the Highland Techs and BC of the world.
Again good game , lot to work on for both teams as expected.

I think the heat might have contributed some to limiting Max today. Can't afford to lose him in Week 1. And I agree about Bralley, once he gets some more live reps, he'll be fine.
Also I thought KJ was a little shakey at first but he definitely got into a grove later in the game, he's gonna be really good for y'all before it's over with. And Majay, geez that kid can fly.
Both these trans definitely have things to clean up, but both are most definitely gonna have a day in November
In first games of the season attrition and especially cramping is a major factor. Teams who manage that issue best or the deeper talented team has a notable advantage. In my opinion playing on a Saturday at 1pm makes that normal attrition that much worse. Burns had more kids playing both ways, ballgame.
After seeing all four teams play, I have to give the early overall nod to Shelby. They had a solid run game, and young QB made some savvy plays stepping up into the pocket and finding open receivers. Minus one busted pass play that went for a long TD, their defense was solid, holding KM to one other offensive TD. Crest has the best overall defense. They gave up a long TD run on the jet sweep after missing 2-3 tackles at point of attack. The other TD they gave up was from 11 yards out after a kickoff return. They came up big with 2 turnover in the 4th quarter, one for a TD. Their offense is still a work in progress. Other than the one long TD run, didn’t have much of a run game. Majay is always a threat and ended up making a huge play in the passing game for a TD. QB made a couple good throws and a few questionable throws. KM probably has as much talent as any of the teams. Look great on the hoof. Defense needs to be more consistent and disciplined. Way too many penalties on defense. Offense will only get better behind the young QB, but what a talent he is. They have to find a way to protect him better and allow him to work. Burns def solid on defense against the run. Pass defense was average, getting beat by Thompson against single coverage on a few crucial situations. Offensively, they have a bell cow in Davis. Didn’t use him as much today for whatever reason, but he did have solid run when they gave it to him. Who will be the QB is the pressing question. #3 is def a problem with the ball in his hands. Overall, four solid football teams that will be fun to watch as season progresses. What a fun first week.

Burns will generally always end up starting in an 0 and 2 hole every season simply because they will never have the depth to go against Crest and KM for 4 qtrs the 1st weeks of the season...
All is well in Tornado land! We let one get away from us against the Red Raiders, but we will regroup and get better. Good luck going forward and in the words of my little Buddy, Rowdy, DAMN!
