Clinton HS needs athletic trainer

I wish the NCHSAA could mandate all schools have to provide athletic trainers for games and pay them. Craven County is broke and not going to pay for Athletic trainers is what I heard. Just get someone to take a 10 hour first aid course. Can this be possible?

Some schools are having issues with just finding candidates for the job.

It has been made a masters level degree now (to get certified you have to have a masters in the field) and people arent going to spend all that time and money to get their masters and then go to work for what school districts are paying-which is essentially teacher pay.

Craven County is a mess right now. One board member admitted to the news they were 8-10 million in debt. Anyway the county has fired the athletic trainers. It’s embarrassing but as long as the good ole boy network is in control of Craven County there will be no fix for it. They are going to ruin high school sports in the county. What do you think education is like?

I’m hijacking a thread. I guess I should quit and start one to discuss this but I feel like I’m the only member on here this is applying to right now.
