Sadly, #3 isn't really true. He is 3-6 vs Iowa, but has won 3 of the last 4.

I know the "409ers" are getting all excited about the Paterno mention, but that's a "check-the-box, gotta get this out of the way" thing that Campbell did in his introductory comments.
Franklin did THE SAME THING 12 years ago. His quote was "Honored to be joining a long line of great coaches with Bob Higgins, Rip Engle and the great Joe Paterno."
For all the "409ers" who think Campbell is going to be a Paterno advocate in a way Franklin wasn't, you're all going to be wrong.

Nobody wants or wanted CMC or BGF to be a "Paterno advocate". The "409ers" don't need a Paterno parade or celebration...just an acknowledgment from the University that they f'd up in the way they treated him in 2011 and a heartfelt and PUBLIC apology.

Campbells Paterno speech was far different than Franklin’s listing of names. He explained the relationship with Todd Blackledge and understanding how success was made here. Coal miner discussion etc. Kyle Brady fandom. He and Terry Smith have a history. While he never met Paterno, he either feels it and embraces it or he’s he’s a better salesman than Franklin.
I’m going with he’s in.
I admired Joe for his contributions to the university. He certainly deserves that recognition. I was also a strong supporter of coach Franklin and I'm very excited for the future of the program under the helm of Matt Campbell. Whether he is or isn't a Paterno advocate makes no difference to me even though he seems to be. Does that make me a 409er? Just trying to get s handle as to what that means.

Like Franklin, it isn't Campbell's job or concern to be a Paterno advocate. That's on the AD and the BOT.
