Made statement on Tom Leach Show that defense was not lined up at the snap. Players were trying to find their spot. This was same comment one of the announcers made Saturday night. Correcting that could mean big impact on defense.

Lining up correctly should be the first thing you learn. If you can't do that, then that's on the head coach and D coordinator. If they can't learn to line up, I'm guessing they didn't learn other things either. Finally lining up correctly in the 4th game of the season isn't going to fix much.

Hence maintaining lanes and filling gaps are problems, could be a coaching issue or the players just not recognizing what they see quickly and second guessing where they are supposed to be and their assignment. If anyone has coached at any level I'm pretty sure that you can recall a time when you told a kid what to do and then watched him do something completely different.

What is interesting is Brooks is coming to the UK game this weekend. If I was Stoops, I would have him come to practice tomorrow if he is in town.

Problem seems to be defense too complicated. Easy fix for that. Also subbing too late often an issue last year. Defense just can't play loose when thinking too much. This problem cost us three wins last year. Auburn Vandy and UF. Nearly Eku and ull too. Coaches need to get Smarter!!! Also need to blitz more

It all circles back to the recurring 'lack of coordination' theme we've all seen under Stoops. IMO.

Coach Brooks needs to be hired as an advisor to the HC. I know they have different styles of playing but we need an experienced coach to help with the fundamentals.

The D actually stopped the fourth and short when they were running around in total confusion. Stoops had called time-out before the play. After the time out, NMSU decided to kick. The "Chinese Fire drill" defense may actually confuse the offensive more than the defense.

Never understood animosity toward a coach. I understand wanting a change but it's not like the guy is trying to lose. He just can't do it. It's like getting mad at someone because they can't run a 4.4 forty.

Other than the one idiot with the 85 letters in his username no one has animosity for him as a person. In fact people have gone out of the way to say what a good guy he is.

Maybe you havent seen it since Saturday when you joined but it's true.

Not to make excuses but the NMS game was the first time I have watched them run from a base 4/3 or 4/2 so maybe they do need to practice the assignments and shifts more as they are totally different than from the 3/4. The base 4/3 or 4/2 shouldn't be confused with the 3/4 when the Jack and/or the Sam comes up onto the line of scrimmage as a pass rusher. It's still 3/4 multiple.

It takes time to line up a defense in the SEC, at least 5 years...

Are there any of these fans left? I mean, I know the usual ones like Jauk (pretty sure he's going to like anyone we bring in at all times), but are there any real apologist left? I never see them anymore.

I hope Coach Brooks is coming to accept a new position in the football program - AD for the Football Program! I could imagine us having a great team in the future if we had someone like Rich running football. As I keep saying - let Mitch run all the other programs at UK. Cal basically runs basketball and Mitch really like Track & Field, Swimming, Volleyball, Soccer, Golf, etc. UK would be much, much better off and whatever Rich cost would come back at least 10 times over!

Go Big Blue!

It is the only decent hire Barnhart ever made 100% on his own, and I said decent with a purpose.

And it was 1 year from falling completely apart. Brooks was about to be fired a and was extremely close to being fired before the first bowl win.

It's scary how awful barnhart is considering he's moderately accepted. Scary.

You start telling kids out of the womb, when they are lined up on the edge, "stay home" These kids still don't do it

I think we have a new one.... @BoNicholas

Another newbie signing up and slinging spit...

I remember when it was surprising if a new guy joined and automatically posted rudely.

Standard procedure nowadays...

Give some really good credit to Brooks. He took over on the heels of probation and had to work with atrocious facilities

We should hire Brooks to take over all football related decisions from Mitch and just let Mitch focus on sports he really cares about (Olympic sports).

That's actually not a bad idea. Florida brought in Spurrier and made a job for him as a "football consultant"..having some guys like Brooks, Tim Couch, etc as special consultants to football or director of operations would do nothing but help. Do like other schools with some tradition & put some of our best former players/coaches on the payroll and use them to hire your next coach, make major football decisions, etc. At the very least it couldn't be worse than Barnhart. I'm sure a guy like Brooks wouldn't mind it because it doesn't bring the stress of coaching but he also gets to be involved in the day to day stuff and not away from football entirely.

Can't speak for all fans wanting a coaching change, but for me it is not animosity towards Stoops as a person at all. It is animosity towards individuals being paid millions of dollars to produce a big pile of dog crap on the football field. It is animosity toward an athletic director creating an 18 million dollar Stooper Pooper Scooper needed to clean it up.
Thanks Mitch!!!

I have experienced that. But not most of these guys on here. Theit teams would be motivated, on the same page, tough, and working like machines in 1 year.

4 more recruiting classes might do it?

7 more years. Come on guys. No coach has ever succeeded at UK. It doesn't do us any good to constantly be shuffling coaches in and out. And let's stop with the criticism of Mitch guys, it's getting way too personal. Kentucky has always struggled at football, it's not Mitch's fault. Let's just be happy with what we have and stop being so greedy for success. If we give Stoops and Mitch another decade they'll get us to our ultimate goal of a .500 record, I promise.
