Can someone explain to me what he was so mad about?

What were the students saying?

I know they chant sit with us to visiting recruits. Not sure if it’s something they typically do with returning players or not

Here is what I still don't get about the whole thing, how does K misunderstand a chant that he's had to have heard literally hundreds of times? If this chant is used against alum then that's a pretty normal thing. Imo, even if they were chanting obscenities at Capel, K's reaction was over the top. If he did apologize, then great.

You never go full Grayson.

A loud environment, a man in his 70s.... things get misheard. I am 38 and I am always saying "Huh? What?" to my wife when she talks. Partly because I have ringing in my ears from a lack of hearing protection when hunting, partly because I am ignoring her. lol

I thought K overreacted and I’m not sure that’s really questionable. I thought it was a bad look..

However, I’m also willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt right now. I think emotions are high about Kobe..it’s beyond reasonable and understandable one would be emotionally tired. The body doesn’t know the difference between being emotionally tired and physically tired. I’m sure his patience isn’t good like anyone who is tired. Also probably an overreaction due to it all and the feel of need to take care of your family right now.

It’s reasonable to give anyone a pass right now and not just because it’s Coach K.

Anything less is a bit ignorant and you just want to have something to go at.

Doesn’t make it right but does make it understandable.

Didn’t care for it. We already struggle to get the crazies to say anything original and this won’t help.

but it’s not a big deal and life goes on.

I liked what Coach K said about it in the post game. He aplogized in the proper manner and said let's move on. Proud of the man. What's he supposed to do invite the student section over to his house for a cook out. I guess the next thing we will hear about this is a law suit because some one was offended or had their feelings hurt. Enough of the B.S. OFC

I think everyone needs to put this in perspective. Coach K is dealing with the death of a young man that he thought very highly of, had coached him as well, and then have to coach against one of his former players 2 days later, one who was his top assistant, then to watch him get a technical foul, it's quite possible I would explode too.
I know what it is to have a lot of things going on, many not good. I can tell you I haven't handled them well at all.

He is an embarrassment to Duke. The old man needs to retire. How they let him come back out after that mental outburst is beyond me. I hope they pull his contract after this....;););););););););)
I agree lol. I heard that he apologized because he didn't know what they were saying

K's been under a strain. He apologized, and perhaps it wasn't the best one ever, but at least he did. I'm not quite as old as K, but I know what it's like to be stressed out and not being at your best.

That said, let's put the blame clearly on where it lies. The unidentified 'sitter' wearing the black leather jacket in one of the front rows. He started this whole dang mess and K got confused with what was being said. He's a troublemaker, and needs to be found.

Sorry to hear about the young man. Former player?
