Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, who is the winningest coach in Division I men's basketball history and has led the Blue Devils to five national championships in his 41 seasons, plans to retire after the 2021-22 season, sources confirmed to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday.

Associate head coach Jon Scheyer has agreed to become the next head coach at Duke, sources told ESPN. He will spend the 2021-22 season as coach-in-waiting and will take over after that.

Oh man. If Duke has another bad season with Jon Scheyer as CIW then Duke fans are gonna want to FARRR that sonofabeyitch before he even starts. These Indiana, UNC, and Duke hires make me (and should make you) all the more grateful that Louisville hired Chris Mack. Good lord these 3 made some underwhelming hires.

At least UNC and Duke are staying with people within the school’s traditions, regardless of how I think they will coach.

University of Louisville doesn't have a plethora of former players that are viable candidates . As UNC and Duke have . Hell even Uk has former players that are head coaches at diffrent college levels. Guess we can keep the tradition bye firing Mack and hiring Eaves or Beard. Oh i forgot Payne whom i don't think personally would be a good HC at any level. He imop is just like Orlando Antigua whom just prvoved he is not cut out to be a HC. Some guys calling are being great assist's. Just Like Ron Cooper excellent assist coach. Nothing wrong with t.

No one is going to care and none of that is goin to matter if they don't win. I believe Juwon Howard is the outlier, but we'll see how all these hires play out. Jim Boeheim and Bob Huggins are probably the next to retire, Calipari, Izzo, and Pitino not far behind.

That’s true. As you remembered after Guthridge took over for Dean Smith, UNC replaced Guthridge with Matt Doherty, a former player. When he couldn’t win, they replaced him with another former Tarheel Roy Williams and the rest is history.

I don't see Cal retiring anytime soon he is only 62 years of age. Now he got his bagmen on staff he can go back to just rolling out the ball again.
