Hopefully this will be a speedy recovery. with that said these kids are going to learn a lot about themselves this year. It's time for these kids to become men.

Again all the best for a speedy recovery for the goat.

Big news. Best of luck to Coach and his surgery. These guys have even more to prove to him now, winning in the ACC without him. Fight for him fellas. Might be the chip on the shoulder we could actually build off of. Full confidence in Capel and staff from me!

Wow, injuries piling up. The theme of this season should be "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger." I really want to stick it to the Duke hating masses and win the title despite all these setbacks. The only thing holding us back is ourselves. We have plenty of talent. We just need the commitment and effort now.

Looks like he is coaching Wednesday and then out for at least 4 weeks. That will be a critical time for this group. Faith has a funny way of working out.

Get well K! I agree with everything that was said in the above posts.... I trust this staff to keep up business as usual and I hope this is a wake up call to the players... along with the VT game of course!

Brutal. Can't believe all of the unfortunate events that have happened this season. Praying for a speedy recovery for Coach! The only possible positive that may come from this is I believe Coach Capel will be more willing to use a more expanded rotation. Guessing Bolden specifically will be seeing an increase in minutes.

4 weeks seems optimistic when it comes to back surgery. Is this a pretty minor deal? As I understand it, back surgery is usually a last resort.

I agree with the expanded rotation... I get it was one game last year but when capel over the GT game, vrank got a decent amount of run in that game, not saying he will now just that capel has shown he will do that... when he gets healthy maybe Javin gets a few minutes too

This........ I think last year when K was real sick vs maybe the game @ Gtech Capel played thornton and CHase a lot more than normal and maybe even Vrank. I think you won't see Bolden come in for 2 minutes then not play again.

It's not a knock on K because when you have 7 or 8 players you can trust and rely on them that's awesome. I just think we need to give more talented players a chance to develop and improve within games to have our best team for march.

I'm on a cruise and got to a bar here in Cozumel and saw it come across the team. Finally found some wifi to find out what's going on. I appreciate you guys.

Health first! Hope Coach K gets well!

However this season is really going down the er....just another person out for an extended period of time...

Any hope we had of Coach K fixing this just went out the door...

I now don't believe this season has any chance of getting on track...

This has been the most bizarre Duke basketball season I ever remember.

Get well soon Coach!

Hoping Coach K has a speedy but full recovery. I have confidence in Coach Capel and the staff. Time for some of our players to step it up a notch or two. As for the thr guys most are trying to be civil about it and Mike Irby has ask them to keep it classy but be prepared for the ignorant ones. They are there and can't wait to show their stupidity. Just hope it's a few. If they start over here they will be taken care of and hopefully the ones that try it at thr Mike Irby and the rest of the mods will handle it properly. This will show us how much integrity is in the carolina way. OFC

I'm wishing K a speedy recovery. I had a micro-disectomy on my back a year ago. It takes about 4 weeks to get where you feel close to normal. I could only sit for about 45 minutes at a time during the first 2 weeks. I think he could be back in 4 weeks easily. It's the sitting part that bothered me for a while.

I'm sure the narrative, will be that he had quit on his team, because it has been a challenging molding year. Per everyone else!
obviously THRs and RR's of the world will say that, but most rationale people aren't completely obsessed with their hatred of Duke and K, and will see that it is a 70yo man that needs to have back surgery.

Capel has to follow through with K's wishes somewhat, but this is a great opportunity for him to show what he's got. As mentioned above, I expect Capel to open up the bench a little, the way he did last time K was out. If ever there was an audition for the Duke job a few years from now, this is it. We're with you, Coach Capel. We're with you, Coach K. We're with you, Blue Devils.

I checked and saw where Coach K's record for the 94-95 season was 9-3. He didn't get credit for the games he did not coach. Someone please correct me if I misread that. OFC

It all depends if the school files a motion, I believe. Prior to K missing the rest of the 1994-95 season, the school announced the wins and losses would not be given to him.

Now, the idiots --- mainly Carolina fans, obviously --- will have you to believe otherwise. But at no point whatsoever, were those wins or losses from 1995 on K's record. Never. That also means they were never removed. But again, they adapt to "if we say it enough we start to believe it's true, too."
