Per DO, Stoops in several recent interviews: 'I'm all for my coaches becoming head coaches'

Who wouldn't want to be an assistant under Coach Stoops. Bob did his job searching for a new OC after the 2014 season. Lincoln Riley was a great hire.

As tough as it may be to lose good assistant coaches, it really speaks well for a program to have coaches that are sought after by others.....especially if that program can reload.
If and when Riley leaves, the offensive scheme currently employed will likely be maintained, depending on the quarterbacking. Credit must be also given to defensive line coach Reynolds and secondary coach Cooks who have been as valuable to the defense as Riley's been to the offense....not to mention linebacker coach Tim Kish who historically hasn't received much love from OU fans. These three coaches don't get nearly the credit that Riley gets.

Well, this is America.
Everyone has the privilege of moving on when opportunities present themselves. I get that. I've relied on it in fact.
It's just that as a fan, you don't want anything as delicate as the elite D-1 football program you follow to have any lapses in continuity.

Even the most seamless transitions in coaching will always have some incidental lapses in continuity.
That too is part of the equation.
I get that also.:D

When Riley leaves, I'll bet we can get either - or both - Heupel and/or Norvell to return! We'd have to, of course, pry Norvell away from UT.;)

May've to overpay for them but, hey, we're OU!

Anybody think Riley would be swayed with a silent agreement that he get the opportunity to become the head coach at OU when Bob retires in probably 3 years? Would OU be willing to give Riley with no head coaching experience that opportunity? Of course this is all hypothetical with Riley staying for 3 more years at least with "Great" success as OC. He would be 35 years old in 3 years. Or would OU go after a big fish head coach out there?

IMO, our Fearless Leaders are far too astute to enter into an agreement like that, based on a single, and highly unusual, season. I also believe that 'The Muschamp Fiasco' threw cold water on the 'Coach-in-Waiting' scenario. I like Riley, a lot, but we need to see what he can do without The Baker...

Don't look now, but the HC job at East Carolina (the same school Riley just came from) opened up.

I think Riley will be here at least another year. He can boost his resume with this team. It could be a distraction
for Riley before the Final 4.
Yea I know that's taken
