Sorry to interrupt this cat fight, but I assume everyone saw the cardboard cutout of Coach at the Wichita game? That was a nice gesture.
I find it funny that ‘Coach’ is a more revered figure than our actual all time winning-est coach. Dougie Fresh.

Homily from Fr. Kastl

Eulogy for Coach
Boy that was moving.

David had left a mark on the world that few of us could aspire to. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

Have not read this thread. I was often worried about Coach’s emotional state.
I was thrilled by his support for TU. Recognizing that he may have had emotional issues, I think TU should carefully ponder how to honor such a great friend. I hope we don’t need to address whatever emotional issues he may have had to overcome. RIP Coach I cheered with you for years .

I was pleased to see his card supporter in
the end zone tonight.

He was mentally disabled. I don't see worrying about the mental state of someone who is mentally handicapped, as an issue in recognizing him as a loved person in the history of TU ball.

I brought it up, they also made social media posts concerning his passing and the cut out. As I said some of the comments I have seen either on those posts or by people sharing/referencing it are pretty enlightening in how the fandom saw him. It's clear his life was filled with love, that love translated beyond any barrier, including his love for the school. JR Rollo talked about former players messaging about it. I know some football alumni took notice as well. I as alum did and some people who I would call casual fans have acknowledged it too.

The fact that his Tulsa fandom was just a little tiny reflection of the overall life he lived speaks volumes about what kind of impact that man's life had.
