Muschamp is hardly on the hot seat. It's his first year.

Stoops is not even close to it- if we have another bad year in '16, then next year he'll be on it.

That should tell you something about how competitive the SEC is, half of the 10 hottest seats are in the SEC. Sumlin certainly deserves to be there, I don't know what's going on at A&M but something has to be if your top 2 qbs both leave. I think it's safe to say Gus or Les possibly both will be gone at season's end. I don't think either fanbase will be happy finishing 4th, I think Bama and OM are the top 2 teams Gus might survive finishing 3rd and getting 8-9 wins, Don't think Les can. I don't think Stoops is likely going to get any heat, unless people think team regresses. Muschamp, don't see him getting fired regardless of what happens unless he goes complete nuts on the sideline and causes a huge embarassment to the university, and loses a bunch of games, like 8 or 9.. One that might get added to that list, not because of losses, but because of sanctions, I can't see OM and Freeze skating on paying players. The Kiffin at OM now had a show cause attached to him and Freeze claiming to know nothing just doesn't add up

Don't know much about any of the rest except Strong, he better win 10 this year because Texas doesn't want Herman heading to A&M. No doubt in my mind AU will target Art Briles first, if he says no, Petrino will be next their list.

I agree with several of you that it's silly to list Muschamp on the "hot seat."

However, I did think it's a bad hire.

Charlie Strong is on the hot seat but things are definitely looking rosier in Austin. From all indications, UT has a QB, while a FR, looks the part. CS has recruited very well the past two years and just picked up 3-4 top recruits from Baylor's class when the NCAA let them go somewhere else. They've got a super young team but more talented than UT has been in a few years. They should win 7-8 this year and really be set for 9+ the following. Don't think Charlie will stay on the hot seat long, imo.

Sumlin is definitely feeling the heat and I don't expect them to be much better than 5th in the SECW. If they're 3-5 (or worse) in the conference and end up about .500, the Aggies may seriously consider cutting him loose. From $5 million/ year, 'can't miss' to out of a job in 4 years - welcome to the SEC, Kevin.

That's why he's on the hot seat already!

I think he was a panic hire. They had a 2 month head start to hire a coach. I can't say how much of this is true, but the timeline works out. Smart was their number 1 guy. After our awful showing at UF, a few of biggest booster, were more than upset, 2 weeks to prepare, only thing we did differently was play our 3rd string qb who was a dual threat guy, but didn't change our offense to fit him at all. He threw 4 picks and Richt/Schotty left him in. So they had a meeting with the Moreland, the president, flew to speak to Kirby and offer him the job. Kirby told him what he would have to have and they told him consider it done. Called our AD up, told him to what to put in the contract and not to screw it up or he was gone too. Our AD isn't the smartest guy around, glorified ticket counter, he wanted to be tight with assistant's money, President took it away from him and did the deal. Carolina made a counter offer but UGA was the job Kirby wanted. Then Herman was next, obviously a hot commodity but he decided to stay. Carolina fans will say Fuentes wasn't contacted, foolish on their part if he wasn't in my opinion, Rich Rod was interviewed, saying no offer was made, Rich Rod got a raise anyway, what is really meant is Rich Rod wasn't offered but his agent was. Muschamp was leaving AU, he was going to be our DC but USC rescued us from that. I think he was way overrated at Texas, he had good defense at UF, but he shortened the games so much by the offense he forced them to run it was like playing half a game.

But Kirby is probably on the hot seat more than Muschamp.

Yea Kirby turned down several head jobs over the years and I always heard he was waiting on the UGA job to open up. Hard to believe USC would pick up a loser like Mushy over Fuentes or Rod - at least they have been successful at something. I figured Kirby would be viewed as a homer/hero type and be given a fairly long leash.

Early season projections for Texas is 5-7. And, that is Texas sportswriters projections.

Good news. Kentucky is actually moving up in the polls in one area. Coaches Hot Seat. Stoops now holds down the #3 spot and it's anticipated that with another pathetic performance this Saturday against #182 New Mexico State he might be able to edge out Malzahn and The Matt Hatter for #1.:D

Then UK fans can finally say "Were Number One" in football something

I would gladly look into hiring Boston College's DC or Mason at Vandy. Dude has experience in putting out some good defenses.

Wonder if MacIntyre and Stoops compare notes? Both in similar positions.
Colorado has won two games this year by a margin of 100-14. (44-7 over CO ST; 56-7 over ID ST). I think MacIntyre's seat is getting much cooler....

We'll see what happens when they start playing decent Pac-12 teams.

They get a chance to see how much they've improved at Michigan on Saturday.

I didn't realize they were playing UM (hadn't looked at their schedule) - you're right, definitely a litmus test for the Buffs.

I don't see Petrino leaving Louisville for Auburn. With the Ville now in the ACC he feels he has what he needs to build a top ten (or better) team.

I meant as a head coach. Get a guy that has won being a head coach

Well i wasnt talking about head coaches. Im talking about fixing the mess we have now. Mason has proved he can put a good D on the field with little to no talent in the star rankings. BC has bad good defenses as well. Will it translate to the sec i dont know but we know Eliot doesnt know jack and extension Stools.

Well nobody will come in the middle of the season. This mess will continue while Eliot is still here.

LOL, maybe I was being a bit too optimistic but by "bad year", I was thinking another 5 win "bad year". We go 2-10, and he can only hope to be on the hot seat, and not completely out of Dodge after that.
