Hurley might be the best coach. His players give supreme effort and he is relentless with refs. This is all coaching. He does not accept excuses. Love him or hate him. It’s how you win.

I’ll admit I thought Florida was unbeatable but I forgot what happens when you get punched in the mouth. UConn rounding into form of their coach.

SEC so overrated

Fl could very well win this game.

But so far the moment has been too big for them.

I’m hoping that is what we see from Il later.

Won’t be a popular take, but in tournament play you could argue toughness prevails. Toughness, mental and physical, is the most important thing. You can talk about x and os and pretty free flowing European offenses all you want. That philosophy is the backbone of some pretty successful coaches (Izzo, C**i**r* are the first two coming to mind), versus some others that I’d call tacticians (Pitino, Self, Painter).

And it comes down to a lot of luck too. You can play a team extremely well, and lose on a last second shot. This tournament very very rarely crowns the best team of the year. It crowns the best team of the tournament. Which makes it both bad and good.

Agree. My take is the same and so clear and simple. But I’m “the most negative poster on the board”.

People I’d rather know the truth even if it stinks.

That's part of it, but even BIGGER is making shots when you REALLY need them. That is what wins in these types of games.

I don't care how "tough" a team is if they can't make shots, they won't go all the way. Izzo(whom you mentioned) is THE prime example of that. Great coach that can get you to the Final 4, but will struggle winning it all.

Woah...woah...woah. You mean you have to score more points than the other team to win?

Hang on....I need to sit down and think about this for awhile.

It looks like if UConn keeps getting the calls and making their free throws, they will win this game. It's certainly setup for that right now. Florida has missed theirs. Would be a surprise, but not a shocker. Thre goes my brackets if Gators lose ! hahahah !

True - but that’s a form/part of toughness. It’s not just D-ing up or crashing the boards. Hitting free throws, making big shots, not backing down….refusing to lose.

It is hard to believe that the 3rd highest scoring team in the country is struggling to put up 60 points today.

Get your sky-is-falling talking points ready, folks:

If Florida wins, we went after the wrong "up-and-coming" coach and he will abuse us in the portal for years to come.

If UCONN wins, our "old money" can no longer keep up with the new blue bloods and shows how far we've fallen that we just can't buy whatever we want, except when we want the narrative to be that we don't have the NIL money to compete for talent.

That will take a back seat to all of the Cal talk.

Yeah, this is the crap I get tired of the most. Especially in modern society. No matter the outcome, Captain Hindsights come out of the woodwork to say how they would've done it and they're ALWAYS right.
