Could you guys imagine if Hurley actually came here, and UConn's record was the outcome of his first season here? He would not have put together a better lineup than what he had at UConn this season. We could be knocked out today, but I don't think that I would be nearly as PO'd if it had happened with Hurley as our coach, and then Calipari and Pope both going to Sweet Sixteen with Arkansas and BYU.

Hurley has some real emotional problems. He should consider he should continue doing this. There are other things to do in life,
For clarity, are you putting real emotional problems on him for being emotional after a really tough loss in a tournament that his teams won 13 straight games in and were in a position to win 14 to advance to the sweet 16 three times in a row?

Hurley might be the best coach. His players give supreme effort and he is relentless with refs. This is all coaching. He does not accept excuses. Love him or hate him. It’s how you win.

I’ll admit I thought Florida was unbeatable but I forgot what happens when you get punched in the mouth. UConn rounding into form of their coach.

SEC so overrated
LMAO would you like to revise your statement?

Hurley had his team ready and think he had shown why they are so good in Tournament games as his staff does a great job scouting the opponent. That said--when you have never been there before, you have to start somewhere and today Golden and Staff made a great adjustment with that Token Press. Wore down Diarra and made UConn go deeper into the shot clock.

SEC play helped UF today--they were not rattled by the deficit and stepped it up and made winning plays. Should help them in the next round and most years every team goes through at least one game like this.

Coaching matters but so does having big time players. Clayton Jr, Martin and Richard just made plays down the stretch.

Was there any doubt that 2nd 3 by Clayton was going in?

No, I am looking at his behavior for the entire season. Do you recall him lying on the floor throwing a temper tantrum like a 5-year-old earlier in the season. He said, "we didn't like each other." I think it is more accurate to the players didn't like him. There is no way that he isn't doing tremendous harm to his personal health the way he behaved for the entire season.

I dont understand ole miss being a long shot. Doesn't Iowa State have a key player out?

Agree with u overall though.

And the OP is a mega moron. He posted this when FL was down like 4. He must think down 4 is the new 20 or something.
Fair but I put the likelihood of Ole Miss winning at the same likelihood of Bama losing, and I think the line bears that out.

Basically high confidence we get 5 Sweet 16 teams and a decent chance we get 6 which would tie the record. And OP throwing out “so overrated” BS LMAO

Thanks for the clarification. I didn’t really follow their season or his behavior during the season so I can’t speak to it. However, I’m gonna give a lot of leeway to both coaches and players losing at any point in the tournament from here on out in terms of their emotional reactions unless it is harmful to others.

Uconn got all the calls most of the game. Hurley is a moron and demented.
UConn fouls - 21
UF fouls - 17

I’m making no judgement. Those are just factual numbers. I would not say officiating affected this game at all. Big time shots late and stepping up on D. Great comeback by Florida.

Hurley should be on the hot seat. Getting paid all that money and couldn't even get them out of the first weekend? WHIFFED big time in the portal, too. Mahaney? More like Mr. Haney, am I right? Just not sure where he goes from here or how he rebounds from this devastating loss and subpar season. No reason to assume next season will be better than this one, either. This was a Top 10 team entering the season but he couldn't even lead them to a Sweet Sixteen. SMH. What he did last year or two years ago is irrelevant. Living in the past much, HuskyNecks? Sorry for keeping it real I guess 🙄. No passes, no excuses, either win every game or you're a loser.

The second round ISN'T the UCONN standard. IT 👏🏻 JUST 👏🏻 ISN'T 👏🏻.

🙁

This is UNACCEPTABLE for a program like UCONN. Pains me to say this, but I think this stage is just too big for him. A team like Connecticut Valley State might be a better fit.

And uconn should have had 25 to 30 fouls called. They raped FL throughout the game on defense. Uconn also had to foul some at the end.

Goodbye Hurley, you ugly-*** piss ant.

In the 2024-25 season, Florida had defeated both Hurley Brothers:
Florida-Arizona St: 83-66
Florida-UConn: 77-75

It did not look like that Florida would pull this game out until late in the 2nd half.
So greatful that Florida won.
That was not an easy 8 vs 1 game.

Good luck UK fans to your team.

Florida is sponsored by Jiffy Lube so they have a lot of money.

Product placement gets them $1000 every time they say it.

But they didn’t “get all the calls” or the foul disparity would be different, right? Your opinion on no calls notwithstanding.

UConn's foul count went up because they were fouling at the end. Big disparity before that.

Great coaching by Golden telling Clayton to nail that off balance fadeaway 3.

To Golden's credit, he did adjust to UConn/Hurley continually trying to double team Florida's point guard, Clayton, by dumping the ball inside more to Condon/Chinyelu.

That forced Hurley to call of that strategy and just play Florida straight up defensively which played into the Gators hands.

There was also a light press which led to some UConn turnovers.

However, what could have been an easy finish when Florida led by 8 points, 74-66 with 21 s remaining, Clayton made a blunder inbounding the ball to Haugh which led to UConn's points, 70-74. Clayton also unnecessarily, fouled UConn's McNeeley with 9 seconds left.

UF players also missed too many free throws: 22/34 made FTs.

UF ended up just eeking out this win, 77-75.

Florida tried to lose this game. They broke out the John Calipari "How to get upset in the tourney" playbook. Missing fall shots and playing to the other teams tempo. Florida got drug into a rock fight and just survived today.

You love to make bold statements that are factually incorrect.

Florida won. At this point, it doesn’t matter how much. I might add Hurley had a team with higher rated talent. But, even the self appointed “Best Coach” in the game could not pull off the win.

The SEC already has 4 teams in the sweet 16, with 3 more opportunities today. Alabama is likely to win.

Ky and Ole Miss will be underdogs. Ky primarily due to injuries and Illinois will likely have the larger crowds due to proximity to the game site.

Final 5 min fouls was 7-4 UConn. So +3. This strengthens the argument that they didn’t “get all the calls”. Game was about even in calls discounting a late foul as timeout strategy.
