I've soooo wanted a QB who was capable of this after our last several QBs. We've won a lot of games and with the exception of will we haven't even had decent QB play. Devin is leagues above even will if our line doesn't get him killed he will put up big time numbers.

That sounds very encouraging. Leary seems like he's ahead of Will as far as recognition and finding the right guy to throw to. We will see that Will has some things that DL does not, but, as a pure passer/QB, I think Devon will be a step up. Gotta keep him healthy but he could do some really good things with Coen, the scheme, the weapons, etc.

Speaking of fast tempo, I don’t understand why you can’t run a ball control fast tempo? Like get up to the line and audible/burn clock there. Don’t allow the defense to sub, and if they try, have a hot read. I’ve always thought that would be awesome.

Awesome. And if you listen to all of Coen's talk today he says Leary is best in up-tempo, bc that's what they did most of the time at NC St, hurry up/no huddle. He has been operating CFB making fast reads & decisions for 4 urs.
I heard similar comments last week. I wouldn't be surprised to see them run some tempo. I don't expect it for long periods of time. But, like @StubbornPenny, Leary has enough experience to get to the line fast, then audible into the correct call.

We may see some tempo on 1st down conversions to see them take advantage of defensive players on the field.

Stoops and up-tempo! The man is adjusting with to his platers/talent. Our offenses have tried uptempo a few times in the last 2-3 years, but it almost always looked disjointed.

Excited for the season to begin!

Love how Woody responded when asked if he learned anything last year with Scrang. That smirk on his face was hilarious. I recommend the watch.

Several teams do just that. Get to the line and check the sidelines for the play call. But they can run a simple dive play or go deep if they catch the defense transitioning players.

Agree on the scheme talk. Yes a lot of teams do hurry up/no huddle, but from spread formations, any run plays are read/options.

Smart football Xs and Os guys I've listened too said the untapped explosive offensive scheme is hurry up tempo, with power run concepts. Quick tempo the D, snap it & gash them up the middle & off tackle. get the big lumbering D linemen on their back feet instead of set to push the O line back.

Just hoping that O-line will give him the opportunity to use his skills.

You can and you’re right. Don’t have to hurry, just have tempo and snap the dang ball when you get there. Nothing worse for an offense than getting to the line then freezing your own line by standing there letting the clock burn down. OLine gets on their heels and Dline leans forward when that happens. Change that around by snapping the ball with tempo.

I can see it now, the opposing defense will be so pasted from all the edibles that they won't know what hit them!
